ABOUT THIS CAMPAIGN
Vaibhav Shetty, 34, is an unusual combination of being both a nerd and a jock. Having entered the combat sports game after 30 years of age, he defies convention in more ways than one. He is an International Middle Weight amateur MMA fighter and Medium Heavy Jiu-Jitsu athlete, a management professional and last but not the least, a father from Bangalore.
He along with his 2 colleagues have been selected to represent India at IMMAF - WMMAA World Championship 2019 in Bahrain. MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) isn't considered to be an Olympic Sport hence the Government doesn't support the athletes financially. They need to raise the funds by themselves to represent the country in any competitions in India or abroad. So many of the deserving athletes never get to participate in any international tournaments.
Vaibhav needs your support to help raise funds to represent the country at IMMAF-WMMAA World Championship 2019 in Bahrain. Funds would be mainly utilized to cover the traveling expenses, tournament fees, boarding, nutrition and training expenses.
Any funds raised beyond 2.25L would be used to help 2 of my colleagues participate in this event. So please continue to fund this campaign even if it meets the target.

ABOUT VAIBHAV
His day job is as a Senior Strategy professional at a software company called Eka Software services. Vaibhav was always a sports person growing up being active in Karate, Discus throw, and NCC. However, education and career took priority over sports and he ended up completing his Bachelors of Science in Chemistry followed by an MBA from Symbiosis and fruitful 10 years career in management. Along the way, he ended up building a gaming hardware startup which was recognized as a top 100 tech startups in India by Exhibit magazine, Top 25 Tech startups by the Maharashtra government and was funded by Intel and IIT Bombay. His current project, the World’s first blockchain-enabled Coffee Market place was awarded the second place in the Excellence Practices awards by CII.

Vaibhav has represented India at the Asian Open MMA 2019 and have won 3 silvers and 1 gold in the recently concluded Jiu-Jitsu (SJJIF) Gi and No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu Asian Open 2019. Currently ranked #2 (Pound for Pound rankings) Among Master 1 White No-Gi category in Asia in JiuJitsu and #185 (pound for pound rankings) in the world in Amateur MMA.
