HOW WOULD YOUR LIFE BE IF YOU HAD LIVED IN ONE SMALL VILLAGE ALL YOUR LIFE?
TRAVEL AND EXPOSURE TO NEW PEOPLE AND PLACES IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST LEARNINGS FOR HUMAN BEINGS. MY CAMPAIGN IS ABOUT HELPING STUDENTS FROM REMOTE VILLAGES AROUND DEHRADUN IN UTTARAKHAND TRAVEL TO GUJARAT ON A TOUR THAT WILL BE EDUCATIONAL AND LIFE-CHANGING.
I am running this crowdfunding campaign to help the students at Purkal Youth Development Society (PYDS is an NGO that educates these children) in Dehradun travel to Gujarat and learn from their experience of visiting different cultural and historical sites. There are 50 students travelling by bus and train to reach Ahmedabad. The trip is in the first half of January 2020. The total cost is about INR 4.5L and the NGO Is falling short of funds and needs another INR 1.6L to make this happen.
HELP ME RAISE INR 1.6L AND GIVE THESE CHILDREN AN EXPERIENCE THAT WILL EXPAND THEIR HORIZONS.
Since the NGO relies entirely on funds and donations, they do not have resources of their own to cover the shortfall.
Most of these children have never ventured outside of their village, let alone Dehradun. PYDS recognizes the Importance of travel and has made it a key part of their curriculum. The idea is to familiarize the students with the culture and diversity of our Nation. During these tours, they are able to relate their classroom learning with practical experience.
All the students hail from underprivileged backgrounds. Some are from parts of Uttarakhand that are very remote. Many are from villages that were adversely impacted by natural calamities and are being taken care of by the NGO.
COST SHEET
The total cost is INR 4.4L and they have raised INR 2.9L. I am trying to raise funds for the balance INR 1.5L to help them go on this trip.
ABOUT ME
I am Yamini Mehra.
With your help, I want to part-fund an educational trip for 50 poor children from Dehradun to Gujarat. This will be the first time most of these children leave their village.
ABOUT PYDS
Based in Dehradun, the Purkal Youth Development Society is a centre for growth, development, and empowerment for the poorest of the poor of Uttarakhand. It is an NGO. They aim to provide holistic education, residence, and care to the most deprived children of Uttarakhand.
It began with one man who felt that the poor should be given equal opportunities in the remote village of Purkal. Thus what began as an after school tutoring session, transformed into an established society in 2008.
TAX BENEFITS
Funding for this campaign is eligible for tax breaks as Purkal is an NGO & is a registered trust. You can avail of benefits under section 80G of the IT act. Foreign funding is accepted too.
FEEDBACK
There will be a small report on the trip and how it has benefitted the children.
Last year, another batch of students went on a tour of Maharashtra. See what they had to say about it.

How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly.
It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations & ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation & you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on an FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries.
