The lockdown imposed to curb the spread of coronavirus has affected all of us but has a very big impact on the stray animals, especially those present in the markets and near corporate setups. The strays have no means of feeding themselves since the offices, restaurants, roadside eateries, where they had easy accessibility to food, are closed. They are starving and their food sources are diminishing.
There are dedicated volunteers called feeders that come to these lanes and by-lanes, abandoned plots to care for these animals. But they are also stuck at home, unable to help the hungry strays.
Right now, about 25 dogs on Faridabad road and Paras road, are being fed milk & bread or dog biscuits. There are another 35 dogs or so near Pioneer Park in Sector 61 in Gurgaon. With the help of the policemen posted on various check-posts and Whatsapp and social media groups, we are surveying and taking count of the number of dogs that have to be fed.

ABOUT ME
My name is Alankrita Malhotra. I’m 14 years old & in Grade 10 in Sanskriti School, New Delhi.
I’m an avid reader, chess player and MUNer but most of all an animal lover. I started feeding stray dogs in Sector 54, Gurugram about 2 years back. When I first went to feed these dogs and approached them with a bowl of food in my hands, I could see the hunger and apprehension in their eyes. When 2 of the regular strays that I used to feed went missing and stopped turning up for their regular meals, I knew SOMETHING had to be done.
The lockdown has affected the world as a whole, including another sizable population - the stray animals. They have no means to feed themselves as they were dependent on human activity for survival. Since all offices, restaurants and roadside eateries (where they had easy access to food) are closed, they are starving.
With your support, we can save these helpless animals and help them survive such unprecedented times.
FEEDBACK THAT YOU GET

How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly.
It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations & ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation & you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on an FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries.
