HOW THIS INITIATIVE STARTED
It began with an individual, a concerned citizen, seeing beyond the lockdown and recognizing the crisis of migrant workers in Bangalore which is of grave magnitude. A WhatsApp message on an alumni group on March 27th brought to light the plight of blue tented settlements where food supply was running low. The line, “Can we crowdfund the purchase of staples needed for a family for a week?” really started the domino effect.
Thousands of daily wage labourers have been affected by the COVID-19 lockdown. While the government will provide them with relief packages, it is important to understand that it is a massive undertaking. Many of them are not registered and are migrant workers, they need our help to survive this crisis.
Funds from this campaign will be utilised in Bengaluru.

FOOD PACK DETAILS
My name is Saivaidiyaa Sivasankar, 17 years old and in Grade 12 at National Public School- HSR, Bangalore.
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all of us in different ways. Perhaps the hardest hit is the daily wage earners, migrant labour and the financially poor. Suddenly they are without any source of income, and they are not able to provide food or the basic hygiene facilities to their families. They fear starvation more than the virus itself. At this juncture, we, the more privileged sections of the society need to step up to support them in this difficult time. The lockdown, being extended, puts an additional burden on them.
I request all of you to support my campaign so that we can also contribute to their well-being in our own small little way. Let's come together and do our bit to help our fellow countrymen.

How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly.
It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations & ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation & you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on an FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries.
