LET’S HELP TEAM INFI ALPHA FROM SRM INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE & TECH, CHENNAI, INDIA WIN ELON MUSK’S HYPERLOOP CONTEST.
INFI-ALPHA HYPERLOOP: The SRM Institute team that is shortlisted among top teams globally to design a super-fast mode of transportation, requires your help to make their prototype pod. Fund them to build their pod, as their win can make a paradigm shift in Indian transportation sector, launching them in the world map of advanced technology.
Are you ready to travel faster than the speed of your voice? Imagine an India where a new non-disruptive transportation technology called the Hyperloop could transport passengers and freight from Chennai to Bengaluru in about 20 minutes. A journey that currently takes 1hr by plane, 5hrs by a train & 5.5 hours by car. This will definitely redefine travel and our concept of time.
The fantasy of futuristic transportation is very much alive right now as Hyperloop is close to making this a reality.
HYPERLOOP – MORE ABOUT IT
Technology has rapidly accelerated through the last few decades, thanks to the innumerable visionaries behind their design and development. Among them, one such is Elon Musk. A leader in global technologies, he is the man behind tech giants TESLA, PayPal and SpaceX.
Credited for many unique designs, his newest brainchild goes by the name of Hyperloop.
Basically, Hyperloop is a transport system based on levitating capsules, which travel at high speed inside a large vacuum tube. The Hyperloop is intended to be a new way to move people or freight quickly, safely and on-demand.
Most of the air is removed from inside a long tube and a levitated pod is accelerated through it, using a linear electric motor and magnetic levitation. The pod can glide quietly for long distances matching airline speeds, due to the extremely low aerodynamic drag and non-contact suspension.

CHENNAI TO BENGALURU IN JUST 20 MINUTES :
HOW HYPERLOOP BENEFITS INDIA
The Hyperloop program perfectly blends it with recent government campaigns like “Make in India” and Vision 2020. It’s potential to efficiently deliver freight and cargo will help the Indian industries avoid heavy losses, like untimely delivery of perishable products. (Logistics cost 13% of GDP). With a Hyperloop system, freight charges will be considerably reduced and at the same time, a lot faster. Also Solar panels and solar energy create excess electricity which can and will be supplied to villages and tier 4 cities thereby saving the government from building power transmission lines. The farming community would be the most beneficial as it gives the farmers direct access to the markets.
Always on time and weatherproof thereby saving time which results in economic savings as it is more than 99.9% reliable. Access to education facilities which may not be present in one city but present in the adjacent city. Additionally, connecting the major cities via Hyperloop will promote cultural unity and bring the diverse pan Indian presence under a single umbrella.
THE DESIGN & COMPETITION
This is the concept of the Hyperloop Pod designed by Team INFILOOP
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla/SpaceX proposed the Hyperloop, a new means of transportation which promises to run at ultra-high speeds, be environmentally friendly and also completely safe.
Earlier in 2017, SpaceX announced an open competition for engineering teams from institutes to design their own Hyperloop pods, to compete on a test track. These pods are similar to train compartments that carry passengers and cargo-- only much more technically advanced and faster.
Applications for the competition poured in from all corners of the world. The competition is scheduled to take place in AUGUST 2018, in California, USA. This team has been shortlisted for this ambitious and futuristic project.
But you can change that! You can help INFI-ALPHA HYPERLOOP and fuel their dream by extending your support through generous contributions! This will not just hoist the Indian Flag on a global platform but also pave the way for groundbreaking technology to be implemented in India.
THE TEAM NEEDS INR 70 LAKH TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FINALS. YOUR CONTRIBUTION WILL NOT JUST MAKE INDIA PROUD, BUT CAN ALSO HELP THE WORLD CHANGE THE WAY IT TRAVELS.
OUR PROJECT HAS BEEN SHOWCASED TO MANY LUMINARIES
ABOUT ME:
Hi, I am Kantesh Kumar Sinha currently studying in the 2nd year B-Tech EEE of SRM Institute of Science and Technology. I love travelling, watching movies, football and beatboxing. I am working in the Electronics and Embedded Systems (EES) domain in Infi-Alpha Hyperloop. I want to revolutionalize the way we travel and that is why I am participating in this campaign.
I have decided to do a crowdfunding program to help my colleagues build a Hyperloop POD and make an impact at the world stage. It’s not often that 18 to 21 year olds get such an opportunity. While the college is funding part of the funds required the sheer size of the funding need means we need the support of the citizens of India, our alumni, friends, family and others to make this happen.
Please support my campaign and let us together bring this project to life.
COSTING:
The Shell and Structure:
The judging criteria of SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition is maximum speed. Keeping this in mind, the team’s pod is designed and optimized to have an aerodynamic shape, which was incorporated into the design after considering multiple shapes, starting with that of a bullet.
The structure of the pod has been designed keeping modularity and scalability a major factor.
Propulsion System:
The pod has been designed to achieve speeds of up to 500 kmph in under a few seconds for the competition. The propulsion system is intelligently controlled for speed and safety of the pod and the tube making it capable of an error-free run, in any configuration, with any load on it.
Braking System:
The design incorporates two mechanisms to bring the pod to a stop. The primary brakes work on the principle of contact-less eddy current braking. The drag force is the primary agent to slow down the pod. Since the Halbach modules are effective with respect to relative speeds, a secondary disc braking module brings the pod to a complete and safe stop.
HOW HYPERLOOP BENEFITS INDIA?
Currently, India needs a faster, greener, cheaper and safer transport system.
Unlike the heavy congestion the roads, docks and airports are witnessing, Hyperloop is a non-disruptive system. Thus, efficiency in time and productivity will increase manifolds, boosting the economy.
Imagine if you could travel from Bengaluru to Chennai in 20 minutes and to any big city or town much quicker than an aircraft can take you! Sounds like an impossible feat to achieve? However, Hyperloop does it and gives back more than what it takes.
But now, Infi-Alpha Hyperloop has the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to change this. Also, innovations such as these should have individuals and government backing them equally. What better way to nurture Make in India, than through INFI ALPHA HYPERLOOP.
ABOUT TEAM INFI ALPHA HYPERLOOP
Infi-Alpha Hyperloop is a team of undergraduates based in SRM Institute of science and technology, working on the research, development, and design of Hyperloop System. FAQs
What are the crowdfunding charges?
Fueladream charges 2% for the payment for the payment gateway and 10% as crowdfunding charges. With GST the total comes to 14.16%. There is also an initial fee of 3000 INR which is being waived for us.
How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly.
It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an Idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream is a crowdfunding site and platform in India that allows for such a pooling of funds.
You can fund innovations & ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation & you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on a FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries.
