LATEST UPDATE
With all of your support, Vinay has fought the COVID 19. He has tested COVID negative.
The other good news is that his heart infection has also reduced to a great extent. He is now out of the danger zone where there is no need for open-heart surgery. However, there are still minuscule particles of infection left around the pulmonary valve.
The Doctor has advised completing the course of the medication which will also allow the remnants of the virus/infection to be eliminated. This would require a further 2 weeks of hospitalization.
Since his treatment has been extended for 2 more weeks this has increases our estimated cost of treatment from 8L INR to 10L INR.
THE BACKGROUND
I have admitted my brother, Vinay Gupta, to the Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, Delhi. He is currently in ICU under 24*7 supervision. The doctors told me that there are 60% chances of removing the infection through antibiotics but if they don’t work, then the doctors will have to perform open-heart surgery to remove the infection or else it will affect the entire heart.
He has been admitted to Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, Delhi. He was in the ICU. The doctors have said that there are 60% chances of removing the infection through antibiotics but if that doesn’t work, then the doctors will have to perform open-heart surgery to remove the infection or it could affect the entire heart. The entire course of the antibiotics will last about 4 weeks and Vinay will have to be admitted in the hospital for proper monitoring during this tenure.
The approximate cost for one week as estimated by Max Hospital is INR 1.26L leading to an average of about INR 5L estimate for a 4-week stay there. In addition, he has just been diagnosed with COVID-19 and that adds a whopping 25000 INR additional cost PER DAY. Hence we are increasing the goal of this campaign to INR 8L.
THIS CAMPAIGN AIMS TO RAISE INR 8L OR MORE TO HELP MY BROTHER RECEIVE HIS TREATMENT.
Read on to know VINAY’s story.
Vinay was neglected since his paralysis. Even the physiotherapy could not make any difference. My father was a physically and verbally abusive man and my mother raised us in an imperceptible circumstance. My relative’s bigoted beliefs and my parent’s disdainful quarrels gave us long term trauma. With severe negligence, Vinay’s physical and mental health dilapidated as a consequence his right leg and hand fully stopped functioning. Vinay was 10 years old and I was 12 when our mother abandoned us and simultaneously our father too. Leaving us alone in the rented apartment. There were many nights when we slept empty stomach and tears in our eyes.
This predicament gave me the courage to call the child welfare organization and ask for help. Soon after the call, the child welfare committee of Delhi placed us in a child care institution known as Samarpan Foundation. This was in 2011. Things became better afterward as the organization helped to treat his paralyzed leg in 2012 and hand in 2014.
Time passed by and his health became better. From hopping he was now running. Then one day, during his regular checkups in 2016, doctors found that the right side of his heart was getting swollen and no pulmonary valve was detected in the heart. Vinay was the first case in India to have this kind of heart condition. All the doctors at Max Delhi told us that they had never performed any surgery like this, hence MAX India with the help of Max India Foundation called for an internationally experienced doctor who performed the operation and placed the valve using a catheter creating minuscule way from his groin area. Thankfully no open-heart surgery was required and the operation was successful.
Vinay has been fully fit since then but since last week he started having episodes of extreme shivering with fever shooting from 100 to 105 degrees within 10 minutes. The doctors did his ECHO where they found that he has an infection in the valve which needs immediate treatment. They told me that there is a 60% chance of removing the infection through antibiotics. If that doesn’t work then the doctors will have to perform open-heart surgery to remove the infection or else it will affect the entire heart.
I am just praying every moment for antibiotics to work because open-heart surgeries have many severe complications. He got paralyzed because of one of the complications during his open-heart surgery at the age of 2.5
BACKGROUND & INVOLVEMENT OF SAMARPAN FOUNDATION
Vinay's sister Sakshi called Child helpline when she was 12 seeking help after they were abandoned by both her parents. The CWC moved both of them to SAMARPAN Foundation. Since then, both the children have been looked after by SAMARPAN, even though they were eventually moved to other NGO’s. This campaign is being done in association with SAMARPAN Foundation and all the funders of this campaign would be issued with 80G receipts by SAMARPAN Foundation.

How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly.
It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations & ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation & you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on an FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries.
