In recent years, Bengaluru has seen a large influx of migrant labourers from other parts of Karnataka. These labourers spend the day hard at work. Their children are often left at home, which not only robs them of education but is also dangerous given the abject poverty they live in.
Pragathi Charitable Trust has been supporting these families by educating the children. It runs 3 centres in Kempapura, Sumanahalli and Amruthahalli. The learning centres currently have 119 children. Their main aim is to help these children get the knowledge to be able to join any other school.
IT COSTS JUST INR 10000 TO FUND THE EDUCATION OF A CHILD FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR
As labourers migrate from rural areas to urban and semi-urban areas, hundreds of children are often left deprived of basic education. We consider it our duty to help these children, as well as others, pave their own way in life- an opportunity we all deserve.

CASE STUDY
Ayisha’s parents, who dropped out of school at a very young age, migrated to Kempapura, Bangalore from Gulbarga, Karnataka. Upon arriving, Ayisha too was expected to stay at home and help with household chores and other work. However, Pragathi Charitable Trust approached her family and convinced them to allow her to get an education and become more independent. Ayisha studied at Pragathi’s branch in Kempapura, Hebbal for one year and they helped her get into a government school. She is now doing her final year of Bcom at a college in Yelahanka. She also aims to finish her MCom (Masters) and then even complete a B Ed (Bachelors of Education) in order to become a Lecturer. Her parents are doing Centring (construction) work in order to support her education.
ABOUT ME
Hello! My name is NIHARIKA CHITTARANJAN. I am 16 years old and in Grade 12 at Vidyaniketan School, Bangalore.
I am very grateful to be given the opportunity to work with my friends and make a difference in the lives of many children. Here we hope to raise funds for the education of many deserving children.
I am running this crowdfunding campaign to help children of daily wage labourers receive an education. Most of us take school and education for granted. We feel like it is our right and has not thought twice about whether it is something we will have or not. These children dream of going to school, most of their parents have not been educated and do not see the benefit of an education.

How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly. It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations & ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation & you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on an FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries.
