Nargis Dutt Memorial Charitable Trust, is building 15 toilets for tribal children in Maharashtra. We need to help make this happen!
Sonave is a tribal village located 2 hours from Mumbai with a population of 3000. This village did not have electricity till 2 years ago !

Terribly backward, in terms of infrastructure facilities the tribals here have no real source of income. The village has little sanitation & this is reflected in the schools too. The schools in this region have an average of 2 toilets for every 200 children. This is leading to drop outs, low attendance, hygiene issues etc. Our aim is to bring this village & the school infrastructure into the 21st century and afford them the chance to progress and thrive.
This campaign aims to raise money to building toilets in the schools.

WHAT WE AIM TO DO
The student toilet ratio is 100:1. Please have a heart and help us in this campaign. We want to build 15 toilets (5 for girls, 5 for boys& 5 urinals for boys). We are building these toilets in the Zilla Parishad school in Borichapada which serves children from class 1 to class 8. This school has 220 children.

We are currently working towards making the Zilla Parishad School in Borichapada a model school so as to put in place a benchmark for all future endeavours that we undertake in this area. All funds collected through this campaign will go towards building these 15 toilets with good tiles, Indian seating, lighting, piping and water storage. It’s hard to believe a place just one hour away from Mumbai is still languishing in such pitiable conditions. These kids and these people don't have a voice. Help us to empower them to step into a better tomorrow.
WHAT HAPPENS IF WE EXCEED OUR TARGET OF 5 L ?
We hope to exceed our goal of 5 Lakh funding for the above mentioned school. In the event of the campaign exceeding its goal we will build neighbouring Zilla Parishad School in Korichapada too has 40 students and 1 unhygienic toilet as seen in the image below. We will build one extra toilet for this school with the excess funds. Clean sanitation for all children in Sonave village is our aim.

WHO ARE WE
The Nargis Dutt Memorial Charitable Trust was set up in 1981, in the memory of Nargis Dutt by Sri Sunil Dutt. This foundation is dedicated to the cause of humanity and our goal is to bring relief to those who are in harm’s way in whatever possible way we can.
In her last days, Nargis Dutt, expressed a desire to help patients suffering from cancer for whom good and timely medical treatment was a distant dream. NDMCT apart from alleviating the immense sufferings of cancer patients, is also passionately working in the areas of HEALTH (in pediatric cancer, bone marrow transplants, medical camps, donating medical equipment and conducting platelet awareness drives) , EDUCATION (school fees, scholarships for higher education, e-learning and computer education ) and RURAL DEVELOPMENT( in Education, Health, Women Empowerment, Solar Power and Infrastructure).
WHAT WE NEED
We need 5L INR to build 15 toilets in the Borichapada school in Sonave village, to make sure that every child has access to clean and functional toilets. This cost includes everything that goes into a entire sanitation system. YOU GET TAX BENEFITS WHEN YOU FUND THIS CAMPAIGN.
