THE BACKGROUND
My wife Shyni Rajesh has been diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in the right breast and is being treated at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai. Doctors have advised us to begin Chemotherapy at the earliest. The Breast surgeon and Oncologists have suggested 4 chemotherapies and then surgery followed by radiation. The requirement on the number of radiations will be confirmed only after the surgery and test results. After radiation, there would be 4 more chemotherapies and would take 10 years to complete the medications.
The course of medicines after the surgery and chemotherapy will be for 10 years. The first chemotherapy was completed on September 18th, 2020.
The approximate cost for pre and post-surgery treatment as estimated by Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital is INR 5L.

I am Rajesh Appu, husband of Shyni Rajesh. She is 41 years old and she is a homemaker. We live in Mumbai in a rented house with our child who is now 13 years old. My wife was completely well until 2 months back when a lump was detected in the upper area of her right breast. We consulted a surgeon near our area and he suggested we get a sonography and a biopsy done. The biopsy result was positive. We then consulted Dr Mandar Nadkarni (Breast Surgeon) at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai with the help of our friend. He suggested a few more tests for confirmation of cancer and the results of those tests including the core biopsy result was positive. He suggested chemotherapy at the earliest. Now she is under Dr Imran Shaikh, Medical Oncologist at the same hospital. The first chemotherapy was done on the 18th of September, 2020. At present, each Chemotherapy has a 21-day cycle and would be reduced to 14 days if there is an improvement. A total of Rs 36,000 has been spent on initial tests.
