THE PROBLEM
Every year, 3000 children are treated at Tata Memorial Hospital of which 90% come from outside Mumbai. The average length of stay is around 11 months. The quality of accommodation is extremely important as these children are on intensive chemotherapy, which leads to poor immunity and very high risk of developing serious infections.
Unfortunately, some families can’t afford to pay for accommodations in the vicinity of the hospital are forced to abandon therapy or stay on the footpath leading to infections and death. A lack of accommodation near the treating cancer centre is one of the prime reason for treatment refusal and abandonment of therapy of childhood cancer in developing countries
THE SOLUTION
Getting accommodation at a good clean place will help them in continuing treatment as well as preventing infections thereby preventing the death of these children due to cancer or its complications. The minimum cost of providing stay to a cancer patient and his family (for a maximum of 4 members) would be just INR 300 per day which works out to about INR 9000 over a 30 day period.
ABOUT ME & THIS CAMPAIGN
My name is Ananya Agrawal. I am 14 years old and in Grade 9 at the Bombay Scottish School, Powai.
This campaign will support children suffering from Cancer.
Cancer is a life threatening disease and the pain and hardships both patients and their families are subjected to is unimaginable. Due to concentration of good cancer treatment centres in metropolitan cities, many people have to travel long distances and stay away from home for their children's treatment. Apart from paying for the expensive treatment, these families have to arrange for accomodation close to their treatment centre as well. These combined costs are way beyond the reach of the common man .While, numerous organizations are supporting the underprivileged by arranging funds for their medical treatment, only a few have been working to provide them shelter.
Therefore, I am taking this initiative to help provide clean and comfortable housing to the families of children undergoing Cancer treatment at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. I believe that this step will help patients maintain a positive outlook towards the disease and protect them from various infections.
Please support my campaign to jointly bring confidence and change into the lives of these cancer patients. The statement 'A little goes a long way' holds very true. The smallest contribution can make a big difference whether it is money or a share on social media.

How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly.
It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an Idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such a pooling of funds.
You can fund innovations & ideas on Fueladream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation & you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries.
