THE PROBLEM
Surface contamination is a major reason for the spread of COVID-19. Low-income communities are more vulnerable to community transmission and spread. Vegetable vendors, policemen, health workers etc. are at high risk. They use various methods to keep their items clean- keeping in sunlight, washing with soap, baking soda, potassium permanganate and hand sanitizers. However, these methods are not effective and some are even harmful. The best way to sanitize these items is by using UV radiation.
Ultraviolet-C radiation or UVC is a known disinfectant for air, water, and nonporous surfaces. According to the Food and Drug Association, UVC effectively destroys SARS-Coronavirus, and many have a similar nullifying effect on the novel coronavirus which causes COVID-19.
THE SOLUTION
Recognising this need, a young innovator, Aditya Pachpande, has taken matters in his own hands to create the UVC radiation-based SURAKSHA box that will disinfect and sterilise essential items. This would be distributed to people from low income homes in the community around our school in Pune.
"Suraksha Box”- a UVC Sanitiser Box that disinfects everyday items without using chemicals and detergents - is getting rave reviews from the scientific community, including getting a Govt of India MC&I) Patent Published and is tested, approved & certified by CSIR-CMERI (ICMR Approved lab of Govt. of India). The box can enable protection against all kinds of bacteria and viruses including COVID-19 by facilitating surface decontamination of items such as office supplies, mobile phones, vegetables, groceries, etc.
The Suraksha box uses UVC light in a controlled environment to sterilise items inside it. The UVC lamp emits light of 240-nanometer frequency perfect to destroy viruses and bacteria on the surface of these items. The inside walls of the Suraksha Box are lined with aluminium bubble wrap that reflects UVC light evenly around the items and is also easy to clean.

ABOUT ME
My name is Vishwajeet Pise.I am 17 years old and in Grade 11 at Indus International School, Pune.
The pandemic has changed our lives in a myriad of ways. As we settle into the new normal, the biggest challenge for everyone is how they keep our personal effects safe by sanitizing and disinfecting them. Trying to get day-to-day items ( masks, wallets key chains, etc) and daily purchase items like vegetables, fruits, food items, packaged goods sanitized is a big concern for everyone. This concern gets very complicated for the underprivileged as they cannot afford sanitizers etc.
The SURAKSHA BOX is a device that resolves this issue. This is a clever innovation that was created by a teenager from Pune - Aditya Pachpande and works on the principle of UV radiation to disinfect all these items. The Suraksha Box will help Kirana stores, veg/fruit vendors, govt schools ensure the fruit & vegetable vendors, govt schools keep safe during the Pandemic and create an environment that is more secure. It costs only INR 2500 per Suraksha Box.
This campaign of mine aims to impact the community around our school - by helping to distribute Suraksha boxes to veg/fruit vendors, Kirana stores, govt schools ( so that they are safe when they open), etc.
I request all of you to support my campaign so that we can also contribute to their well-being of the underprivileged around us and make our community much much safer.
Remember even your small amount will be very useful for us .

How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly.
It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations & ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation & you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on an FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries.
