THE BACKGROUND
National Crime Records Bureau reported that 500,000 children went missing in India. A majority of these children were girls between 10-18 years of age.
Poverty, ignorance, illiteracy are the main causes of parents selling their children to brothels. Some girls are sold to the trade even before they can reach puberty. Their fragile and underdeveloped bodies are pumped with growth inducing hormones. Shapeless bodies start to fill out, hallucinations, vomiting, loss of coordination, seizures and high blood pressure; all side effects of the hormone become constant companions throughout these young girls’ lives.
Every girl is bought at a high price so any resistance or escape attempts are met with physical and sexual abuse and starvation. Many girls contract sexually transmitted diseases, some receive treatment and get better, others succumb to life threatening illnesses and die lonely deaths believing that they were totally useless, unworthy of love.

ABOUT THE NGO
Freedom Firm is an anti-sex trafficking NGO based at Ooty. Freedom Firm is on a mission to eliminate sex trafficking of children in India. We accomplish our mission by conducting rescue operations, restoration programs, and fighting for justice for victims of sex trafficking.
Rescue
Investigators comb cities, towns and villages searching for minor girls engaged in prostitution. Once they find them, they document the crime and share their findings with the police. With assistance from Freedom Firm, the police raid brothels and rescue girls
Restoration
Freedom Firm’s aftercare team visits the girls in the shelter home and provide them with counselling, life-skill and vocational training. Girls showing an interest in academics are enrolled in schools. Every year Freedom Firm organizes two adventure camps for rescued girls living in government shelter homes. Through inspirational stories, arts and crafts activities, and outdoor activities, girls start to heal and develop confidence.
Justice
Freedom Firm aggressively pursues convictions by assisting public prosecutors at each stage of the criminal trial. Rescued girls are encouraged to testify against their abusers. We file an appeal or petition in the higher courts whenever our case is dismissed in lower courts. We have a team that monitors and follows up each case.

How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly.
It’s s concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream is a crowdfunding site and platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations & ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation & you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on a FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries.
