THE BACKGROUND
India has made considerable progress in furthering educational access, with an enrollment of nearly 98%. The past decade has also witnessed a consistent increase in public and private spending on education. Despite this, our educational outcomes continue to be dismal. 40% of students in Class 1 cannot recognise alphabets, while only 16% can read a Class 1 text. A recent AICTE-UN report shows that 54% of India’s youth are not job-ready adults.
In December 2017, The Goa CM’s office and the Directorate of Education needed live and accessible data on the quality of all Government schools in Goa. The DoE also wanted schools to begin to lead their own improvement based on data. This was due to the fact that the state was making investments in upgrading the infrastructure of Government schools and wanted data on other parameters related to school quality
The state was facing two major problems:
- All stakeholders across the education ecosystem held different expectations and language around school quality.
- The data that existed on school quality was fragmented across various departments, was paper-based and was not being used by schools or system leaders who monitored them to bring about improvement.
Learning is a developmental process. The quality of this process determines its outcomes. The quality of the outcome will not improve by examining the outcome at the end of the process. When a high-quality process is assured, by calibrating and checking all the inputs and the delivery, then the outcome will be good. Since high learning outcomes are critical in ensuring a life of dignity and respect, quality assurance is imperative.
THE SOLUTION
Adhyayan was invited to support the Directorate of Education in their Systemic School Improvement Program (SSIP). SSIP aimed to build the capacity of system leaders to evaluate all Government Schools against the Shaala Siddhi framework. The data from the evaluations would be used to continuously monitor progress and work towards improvement.
Adhyayan believes that working in collaboration with leaders and owners of schools on stakeholder-inclusive self-review is a way of embedding reflective practice. The review against a framework provides evidence of "where you are" and provides a route for your "next best step" as a school, a leader and a teacher. This approach is at the core of Adhyayan’s work: to improve the quality of leadership in schools and work alongside leaders to assist them in transforming learning through evidence-based effective governance.
IT COSTS JUST INR 500 TO IMPACT ONE STUDENT.
SO INR 5000, FOR EXAMPLE, WILL IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION FOR 10 CHILDREN AT GOVT. SCHOOLS.
HOW DOES IT WORK?

ABOUT ME & THIS CAMPAIGN
My name is Aggrith. I am 14 years old and a Grade 9 student at the Heritage Xperiential Learning School, Gurgaon
I have undertaken this campaign because I think being able to impact the life of a student (who possibly is my age or younger) by improving their quality of education would be incredible. This is being done for students in government schools across Goa, who have a lot of promise but not the same opportunities as I. Over the last two years, these schools have worked hard to make teaching more interactive and focused on improving students' skills rather than only have them regurgitate content from their textbooks for tests. They need support to continue to do this.
Improving the quality of education of a child here holds the promise of them getting a better job once they grow up. This will help them get their family an improved standard of living
Please fund my campaign as a simple act of kindness on your part can have a profound impact on a child’s life. It will give them education, confidence, and a wonderful life. Let us make a difference together.

How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly.
It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations & ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation & you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on an FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries.
