THE PROBLEM :
IMAGINE BEING COOPED UP IN A SMALL ROOM AND NOT SEEING SUNLIGHT FOR 8 YEARS!
Mona has little memory of her birth family as she was abandoned by her birth parents and left to live with a family at the age of 7. Around the age of 12, a pimp bought Mona from the family she lived with and took her to the red light area in Nagpur. For almost a decade, she was forced to serve at least 10 customers a day, otherwise, she was brutally tortured and left to starve. She was never allowed to leave the brothel.
A few years ago Mona was rescued and was moved to a government home. But she ran away with a man. When she became pregnant, he abandoned her. She went to a shelter for unwed mothers, but she was not mentally and physically capable to take care of her child and so had to put the baby up for adoption.
Mona was eventually sent to YouCanFreeUs, Mumbai for rehabilitation. When she arrived, she was Dealing with a lot of emotional and physical trauma from her past. But at YouCanFreeUs, Mona slowly began to heal as she experienced love and care as she had never known before. Mona had never been to school. But today she is reading and writing well and is preparing for her Grade 10 examinations. She hopes to one day marry and have a family of her own.
THE SOLUTION AND COSTS :
YouCanFreeUs is a Mumbai-based NGO that works tirelessly to give women like Mona a second chance in life by rehabilitating them & help them re-enter society. They have been kidnapped, sold, betrayed and made to work in inhuman settings in the sex industry. These women are rescued from districts in Maharashtra and are originally from states like Maharashtra, Rajasthan, West Bengal, UP etc. They stay in a safe house on the outskirts of Mumbai. Their stay, food, mental and physical well being, rehabilitation is taken care off, their children are also looked after.
INR 25000 will support the cost of their stay in the safe-house, their food, clothes, medical care, counselling costs and the cost of teaching them life skills that will help them reintegrate into society. INR 1L similarly will take care of their expenses for a period of 4 months. To support this campaign generously. Has 80G tax benefits too.

My name is SANGHAMITRA SHASTRI and I am a Am a photographer and a concerned citizen.
I was appalled to learn about the scale and gory details behind the sex trafficking industry. Its modern slavery and there is an urgent need for us to do something about this. Girls and young women who are victims of this brutal practice are kidnapped, tricked into it or sold by their own parents. They need help and they need it fast. The trauma they go through is like none other.
As a very concerned citizen, I want to help in their rescue and rehabilitation. Every survivor of sex trafficking has been made to believe that they are unwanted & just a commodity. They have to be taught to believe that they are worthy of love and normal life.
This initiative of mine aims to lend a helping hand to victims of sex trafficking and help them see light after this darkness. The safe houses that the NGO - YouCanFreeUs (YCFU) runs not only takes care of their physical wellness but also their mental, legal and vocational requirements so they can truly begin again.

YouCanFreeUs India works locally in Mumbai by rescuing victims out of slavery and commercial sexual exploitation from the red-light districts of Maharashtra, providing them with psychosocial care and holistic healing, while also helping them to re-enter society. They also provide their children with residential care and education. Since 2019, YouCanFreeUs has had a dedicated team fighting child labour. Their network of informers, operatives and rescue team members have been successfully rescuing children who fit the criteria of those forced into child labour or are being exploited.

FAQs
Will we get to know the details of how the funds have been used?
Yes. After the money has been collected it will be transferred by Fueladream to Freedom Firm. It will take from 60-90 days after that to get details of how the funds have been used. Once I shall upload this on the UPDATES section of this campaign.
When do I get the receipts?
It takes a week after the campaign is closed for the monies to be transferred. The receipts will start getting processed about 2 to 3 weeks AFTER the campaign is closed and will be sent to you directly.
