THE BACKGROUND
Millions of children from low-income and underprivileged homes find it difficult to get access to education. Even if they do the skills and subjects that they are exposed to at schools are inadequate. Science, technology and engineering skills are usually lacking.
This is because schools for them do not have the infrastructure facilities, labs or teaching staff availability. This means a very limited set of opportunities for them in terms of career options going forward. This increases the gap between them and the more fortunate.
It's the same in Mumbai city too with thousands of students from low-income families.
THE SOLUTION
To make this dream a reality, the Rotary Club of Mumbai Kandivali West has decided to create an Innovation Centre that will have the latest equipment, tools, gadgets etc with trained teachers. This facility can then be used to change the lives of students from underprivileged homes.
Teaching students from low-income-homes about Robotics, Programming, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, 3D printing etc would not only make learning a fun activity but would also help them learn critical skills for the new generation.
The biggest challenge was space BUT luckily the Rotary has partnered with the Pancholia School, Mahavir Nagar, Kandivali West. They will provide space and the building. This dramatically makes the project simple to do. The innovation centre will impact 3200 students from low-income homes in Year 1 at a cost of just INR 2000 per child.
IF YOU FUND INR 6000, FOR EXAMPLE, YOU WILL HELP 3 STUDENTS AND TRANSFORM THEIR LIVES.
A total of INR 64L is required to set this up (read details below). In Year 2 the costs will come down as the only expense will be the running costs.
The cost of just the land and building would have run into a few crores in Mumbai. Thanks to the partnership with the Pancholia School they have given the land and building to the Rotary.
Part of the funds raised will also go to The Rotary Foundation India. This will be used for their programmes including providing clean water, supporting education, saving mothers & children, disaster response and more - basically for the welfare of the community.

With the knowledge gained through this course, this student created a Solar Powered Drying machine (image below). Let's help create more innovators like her.
ABOUT ME
My name is Rtn Prithika Samani.
I believe that even though children from low-income and underprivileged homes have access to education, it is not equal to their more fortunate peers in terms of skills and knowledge. This is because their education does not give them adequate real-world exposure to subjects like science, technology and engineering. This is because the schools they go to do not have the infrastructure or teaching staff for this kind of learning.
This campaign aims to help bridge this gap and give underprivileged children the opportunity to attend courses like Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT) and 3D printing. This will help them upskill, opening up their career opportunities greatly and help transform their lives.
Please do support this campaign and help make a profound impact on the lives of these students.

How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly.
It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations & ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation & you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on an FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries.
