THE BACKGROUND
Did you know that only 12% of women in India use sanitary napkins?
Did you know that 88% of them opt for alternatives like dirty cloth, ashes, and husk?
Did you know that Reproductive Tract Infections are 70% more common among them?
Menstruation and menstrual practices still face social, cultural, and religious restrictions which are a big barrier in the path of menstrual hygiene management. In many parts of India, especially in rural areas girls are not prepared and aware about menstruation and they face many difficulties and challenges at home, schools, and workplaces. Needs and requirements of the adolescent girls and women are ignored. Many of them resort to unhygienic alternatives which can be very detrimental to health.
THE SOLUTION
The solution is to provide reusable sanitary napkins to these underprivileged women & girls across Mumbai and surrounding districts. The kits are biodegradable, reusable with a lifespan of 2.5- 3 years and economically feasible.
It is an Insertion based cloth pad model which has two main components-
1) Shield -which has the wings and button at the corners to hold it together on the panty. Shield is made up of cotton and a layer of PUL within which prevents any leakage.
2) Liners- These are made up of cotton flannel which is a highly absorbent material. These are inserted inside the shield and multiple (upto 3) can be inserted depending upon the flow.
JUST INR 2500 WILL IMPACT 10 GIRLS/WOMEN FOR 2 YEARS. EACH MENSTRUAL HYGIENE PACK COSTS INR 250 INCL DISTRIBUTION COSTS.
Reusable pads are a much better alternative for the environment, individual and which is why we are using them for this initiative. These are stitched by underprivileged women thus serving as a source of livelihood for them.
ABOUT ME
My name is Aditya Dhulgude.
I love observing our society and witnessing all that it has developed into. The world may have changed a lot from the time when we were but simple villagers, and yet, I see the same short-comings of society that continue to Plague us like moths to a light.
All around the world, humanity has made progress in technology- from areas of connectivity to the development of better transports, each and every field of knowledge has had massive breakthroughs.
Yet to this day, the proper recognition of women's necessities and requirements remain ignored. The male stereotype that is followed at a large percentage throughout the world often, knowingly or unknowingly, neglect women's basic essential needs.
One of such issues is the lack of proper sanitation equipment's for ladies. The continued neglect of the crucial differences between men's and women's needs- especially when it comes to sanitation, are causing major problems in the world that remain untouched.
The need for proper sanitation is a human necessity without which people can encounter diseases and suffer from the lack of a proper means of relief.
In this campaign, I intend to support the cause of distributing Sanitary Kits to women, which will include recyclable and reusable sanitary pads, sanitary pouch, and napkins to start with.
This idea not only betters the lives of women unable to purchase these essentials, but also leads to the development of self-respect that would eventually form an unbiased society with just principles.
I intend to raise a sum to support this noble cause and help create a brighter future.
I request all of you to support my campaign. Let's come together and do our bit to transform lives and better the society into a world where we can all raise our heads high.

How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly.
It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations & ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation & you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on an FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries.
