HOW DOES IT MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
- The use of trees for the manufacturing of pencils leads to unnecessary deforestation. The effects of this is seen in the massive environmental crisis that we’re facing.
- Recycling just ONE 2.5-foot stack of waste papers will save a 20-foot pine tree.
- Do you know that 79 million pencils could be made from the paper used in a single press run of the Sunday newspaper?
This is an opportunity for us to teach our kids at an early age that they can make a difference. Help them understand that little changes can have a massive impact on our planet.
Please back these little attractive pencils made out of recycled paper by funding them online. Let’s write without guilt!
A standard wooden pencil costs INR 5, the customized one made out of recycled paper costs only INR 8. One of the worlds cheapest, eco friendly, customized pencils.
How and Why I started making these pencils:
The idea to make recycled pencils came to me when my daughters started going to school. We bought them all the stationary required. I saw the number of pencils that she went through and began to wonder about the number of trees that had to be cut to make pencils just for children. These trees are important to us. They give us shade, oxygen to breathe and they are a necessity to keep the environment in balance.
I was thinking about this while reading the newspaper and it struck me, what if these newspapers could be used to make pencils?
I discussed this idea with a few friends and we came up with a paper pencil making machine. This is a ‘Make in India’ initiative.
Our pencils appeal to children as they can be customised to any pattern, design or image that the child is fond of. These pencils have also found popularity in the gifting section thanks once again to how easily customisable they can be.
This idea was launched in January 2015.
