THE BACKDROP :
One of the most powerful tools for social and economic progress is education. It brings equality among people. Quality education is very critical for every individual. Children from low-income homes do not have access to proper school infrastructure with most institutions lacking basic facilities. This results in students being exposed to poor quality of education and they in turn do not develop important life skills. We have identified 10 schools in Chennai with 6300 students who need help to dramatically improve the quality of education that they impart.
THE SOLUTION AND THE INITIATIVE :
Installing smart classrooms which involve the right educational software + hardware + display devices wrt projectors and screens transforms the quality of education by making it interactive, interactive, visual and engaging. This leads to better learning and attention. Smart classrooms is a long -term solution as they impact thousands of students per classroom over years.
Me and other members of The Rotary Club of Madras East have taken up this initiative. We aim to do this in Chennai by upgrading the infrastructure at Vivekananda Vidyalayas (a part of Vivekananda Education Society) and Ramakrishna Mission Schools in and around Chennai. This involves a total of 110 smart classrooms across 10 schools and will impact 6300 students.
This project is called E-SHALA.
Each Smart Classroom costs INR 1.15L. To get 110 smart classrooms installed we need to raise INR 1.27 Crores. So continue to please fund my campaign even after it goes past its goal as we need to raise a massive amount together. The 110 smart classrooms will impact 6300+ students in year 1 itself. This works out to just INR 2000 per student in YEAR 1. If you look at the impact over 5 years the cost comes down even further.
All funding is eligible for 80G tax benefits.
THE IMPACT IT MAKES:
This initiative will have a huge impact on the students who come from low-income homes. The learning process will become more practical, interactive and innovative. Smart Classrooms will help in their overall development and improve their quality of education.

How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept and is growing very quickly.
It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations and ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation and you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on an FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries.
