We are TA DHOM PROJECT, a Mumbai based band that mixes Carnatic rhythms, Vocal percussion, and Rap to create unique music. Conceptualized by Viveick Rajagopalan we have been pushing the boundaries and creating unique music.
We are the only Indian band out of 2000 global entries to make it to the world famous WOMEX 18 (World Music Expo) music festival being held at the Canary Islands, SPAIN in end OCT 2018. This crowdfunding campaign is for us to raise funds to head to this music festival.
We need to raise a total of 8.76 L INR for us to get to WOMEX 18. This crowdfunding campaign is to raise these funds so that we can make India proud and make a big impact on the world stage.
Scroll down to read about us, listen to our music and read about what a big deal WOMEX is. Fund our campaign, share it on social media (that is a big deal too) and let’s make it happen.
What is WOMEX? Is it a big deal?
ABOUT US:
Viveick Rajagopalan conceptualized the Ta-Dhom Project. A musician and composer he is trained under the Carnatic tradition he plays the Mridangam and the Kanjira.
The Ta Dhom Project for the first time in the history of Indian music brings together, Carnatic classical rhythms, Vocal percussion, and Rap in the most unique manner.
It’s a project where rap is set to an intricate form of Carnatic vocal percussion called “Konnakol”. It features multi-lingual rappers who are very young and represent a counter-culture of the city of Mumbai. Coming from a less privileged social class does not stop them from using their skills to spread the right message.
Ta Dhom Project goes beyond just being a band or an album and what makes it more unique is that its aim of teaching young rappers an art form called " Konnakol" (vocal percussion from the south of India). Music and arts or any kind of skill development have always helped in the overall development of the youth. Unfortunately, learning music has not been accessible to every social class.
The group includes:
AKLESH SUTAR a.k.a MC Mawali as writer/rapper. He raps in Marathi and Hindi
KALAIVANAN KANNAN a.k.a MC ArtsLord – Writer/rapper with Tamil in his mind.
DHARMESH PARMAR a.k.a MC TodFod – Writer/rapper with Hindi and Gujarati dexterity
Finix Ramdas – The Violinist with shades of Carnatic, western, Fusion etc. London Trinity college alumnus
Shovon Mukherjee – Our bass guitarist from Kolkata. He can mix Indian classical elements on his guitar.

What we need & cost breakup
Heading to the WORLD MUSIC EXPO incurs substantial cost for us.
Most of the group members come from backgrounds which make it impossible for them to fund this trip. We are raising funds to head there. We are staying in Airbnb homes to keep costs low and all the costs that we are incurring are for basic and bare bone expenditures. No luxuries at all considering we are being crowdfunded.
The breakup of costs is as under.

FAQs
How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly.
It’s s concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an Idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream is a crowdfunding site and platform in India that allows for such a pooling of funds.
You can fund innovations & ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation & you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on an FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries.
