THE PROBLEM :
Electricity for a few hours in the day is a massive problem for millions of Indians living in rural India. Their life for half the day is in darkness ( 6 pm to 6 am usually) and there is a critical and urgent need to change that. This is a story about a small village called Anupshahr in Uttar Pradesh.
Electricity is a basic need for all of us, but there is an astounding number of villages in India where electricity is a distant dream. In a city in Uttar Pradesh called Anupshahr, several homes live in darkness after sunset.
Lifestyles are impacted as most work needs to be completed before sunset. Electricity for a few hours in the day means :
1) They need to finish critical work before 6 pm every day which is not productive.
2) They use kerosene lamps which are dangerous, toxic and expensive.
3) Education suffers due to the limited amount of time children get to study.
4) It is relatively unsafe to step out of their homes after sunset.
5) They do not have the basic amenities and nobody has done anything to change that.
6) Digital devices - phones, TV's etc cannot be used here.
THE SOLUTION :
Give them simple to use and low-cost solar hanging bulbs which can be used for lighting their home, charging devices and is also portable - take-it- as-you-go device.
This campaign is initiated by Yashasvi Yadavalli, a grade 10 student at The Shri Ram School, Moulsari. This is being done in partnership with the NGO - Pardada Pardadi Educational Society.
The Solar Hanging Bulb has been custom-built keeping in mind the needs of rural villagers. The villagers need a compact and sturdy lighting system. This lantern features a 3.7 volt solar light with an emergency mobile charging USB port. The benefits of using proper solar lighting panels are abundant for rural areas since they avoid costly trenching, save on energy bills, and improve safety.
IT COSTS JUST INR 2300 TO BRING LIGHT TO A HOME.
A Solar Lantern costs just INR 2300 including the cost of delivery and distribution.
INR 4600 will bring light to 2 homes.
INR 9200 will bring light to 4 homes.

ABOUT ME
My name is LAVANYA MUNJAL. I am 15 years old and in Grade 11 at TSRS Moulsari.
The people of Anupshahr do not have access to electricity which is a basic necessity and nobody has done anything to change that. They have to complete all their work before the sun sets which makes it extremely inconvenient. Life without electricity sounds torturous and unacceptable. Electricity is a basic need for all of us, but there is an astounding number of villages in India where electricity is a distant dream.
It costs only INR 2300 to light up one house. INR 11500 can help light up 5 houses.
Let us together impact the lives of people at Anupshahr. Please support my campaign as we can bring these homes out of the darkness.

How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept and is growing very quickly.
It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations and ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding.
