THE BACKGROUND
My 11-year-old son Rehan was unable to walk in May 2021. We took him to a general physician in Aurangabad ( that is where we live) who prescribed some medicines. Unfortunately even after a month, there was no improvement. We then went to another hospital and consulted a Neurologist. Rehan underwent an MRI and was diagnosed with brain tumour. We were told by multiple doctors in Aurangabad, Mumbai etc and in the US that a surgery would not be possible as the tumour was in the lower part of the brain.

Rehan’s health started deteriorating. He went into deep paralysis. His hands and feet were numb and Rehan was unable to speak. He went into a 42-day coma. We were helpless and did not know what to do to get our son back to normal. 42-days is a very very long time.
We then got to know from one of our acquaintances about a clinic called the Sorig Herbal Clinic, a Tibetan Ayurvedic Hospital in McLeodGanj in Himachal Pradesh. This hospital was founded by Padmashree awardee Dr.Kelsang Dhonden. Our friend took Rehan's reports and visited the hospital and consulted the doctor with Rehan's medical reports. They prescribed a course of treatment with tablets which had to be powdered as Rehan was in Coma. The doctor there gave us a ray of hope. He assured that it was curable through Tibetan Ayurveda.
In the last 7 months, the treatment has helped gradually reduce the size of the Tumor and Rehan has gotten much better. He is also undergoing physiotherapy and speech therapy at our home in Aurangabad. 4 experts come home everyday ( two in the morning and two in the evening) to help him with speech and physiotherapy.
The cost of treatment per month is almost INR 1L. All our savings have been used as we had to spend INR 10L earlier for his treatment, scans in hospitals in Aurangabad and Mumbai. I have taken loans amounting to INR 5L in additional ( I work as a supervisor with a construction company and my spouse is a home-maker).
We need funds to support his treatment for the next 5-6 months.
The total funds required for treatment is INR 6L (for the next 5-6 months).
The treatment for his brain tumour is being done through medicines from the Sorig Herbal Clinic, a Tibetan Ayurvedic Hospital in McLeodGanj. Physiotherapy and Speech therapy is being done through experts from the Care Plus Physiotherapy Clinic in Aurangabad. Four therapists from this hospital visit our house twice a day - two in the morning for speech therapy and two in the evening for physiotherapy. The cost for therapy comes to almost INR 1L per month.
The least you can do as friends and fellow human beings is fund big and small amounts so that together we can make a big difference to Rehan's life. The funds we are raising will be enough to help pay for his treatment. So please continue funding till the last day, irrespective of the amount we raise, as the more we collect the more costs are covered.
