DID YOU KNOW?
Palghar District has 1007 villages and 467 gram panchayats with an extremely high female illiteracy rate of 41%. It is an accepted fact worldwide that the physical and cognitive development of the child and the general wellbeing of the entire family is a direct derivative of the literacy of its mother.
THE SOLUTION:
The Rotary district 3141 aims to transform these women's lives by organising Adult Literacy Programs that focus on imparting literacy (in Marathi) to women who cannot read and write in Palghar, Maharashtra. They will acquire a vocabulary of 700 words which is enough for day-to-day needs such as reading destination signs on buses, newspapers and bank documents.
Rotary District 3141 proposes to implement Computer Based Functional Literacy, developed by TCS and used to impart basic literacy to over 250,000 people across rural and tribal areas, urban slums and prisons. CBFL uses animated graphic patterns for easy visual and auditory learning and enables functional literacy in approximately 50 learning hours. Combining visual graphics and repetition of sound patterns results in improved recognition, retention and recall of words.
Palghar District has been chosen for this project as it has a very high women's illiteracy rate and hence our project will have maximum impact.
All funding has 80G tax benefits.

ABOUT ME:
My name is Rakesh Sharma.
This campaign aims to transform the lives of illiterate women in Palghar by helping them learn Marathi. While all of us complain about how things around us need to improve, very few of us get to do something about it. It’s all talk and no action. When I think about how I would live a day in my life if I could not read or write, I shudder.
I have undertaken this campaign because I think empowering women, especially those from economically backward families has a massive impact on the entire family dynamics. It will transform their lives and the lives of future generations. These women will now be able to be more confident and take on responsibilities that they would normally shy away from like shopping, reading etc. Just INR 850 will transform the life of one woman.
Please support my campaign and let us together transform the lives of these women.

How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept and is growing very quickly.
It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations and ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding.
