THE BACKDROP
While education is a fundamental right, it remains a distant dream for many children in India. Families that live in extreme poverty often consider school an impossible cost. Attending government schools is also difficult as they have to pay for books, uniforms, and transportation. Parents who have not experienced the benefits that come along with education such as an increase in earnings and quality of life don't know what they are missing out on by pulling their children out of school. This is why it is a cycle. Children who grow up without education are less likely to send their children to school.
Supporting these children would certainly bring about a meaningful change in their lives as well as in the lives of their parents.
THE INITIATIVE
The Dayananda Vidyalaya located at Vaniyambadi in Tamil Nadu is an English medium school with Grades 1-12. Several of the students who come to this school are from low-income homes. This campaign will provide quality education from primary to secondary to the children from tribal communities, and poor and backward families in and around Kurusilapattu, Yelagiri, and Javvadu hilly region. The parents of these students are farmers, maids, daily wage labourers, and auto drivers. The scholarship will help them build careers and get them out of the vicious cycle of poverty that has plagued their families for generations.

The students at the school are not only given an education. They are also provided with uniforms books, stationery, transport and a lot more.
School timings are from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm approx. The teachers are well qualified and ensure 1-on-1 attention. A situation is deliberately created to redirect the child's energy away from roaming the streets to a system of coming together, through counselling, fun learning, and other activities. Late starters are given personalized attention to catch up to their age-appropriate classes before joining the mainstream. Other vocational classes, sports training, and value education programs are conducted to ensure well-rounded growth for the child.

ABOUT ME AND THIS CAMPAIGN
My name is Saravanan. I am the founder of Dayananda Vidyalaya.
I am a devotee of Pujya Shri Swami Dayanand Saraswati.
Swamyji had expressed shock at the lack of good dharmic schools in the Tirupattur / Vaniyambadi region and asked me - to start a school that provided Dharmic values. I started the Dayananda Vidyalaya at Kurusilampattu after selling off my land holdings and pledging my uncle’s properties. A couple of investors had advanced Rs 50 lakhs towards this effort.
I have undertaken this campaign because I think it is incredible to impact the life of a child who does not have access to education. Many of these parents are unaware of the importance of schooling in a child's life. They prefer to send their child to work and earn money for the family. The fact that Dayananda Vidyalaya provides education, uniform, books, transport, etc. for free makes it impossible for parents to NOT send their children to school. This allows these not-so-fortunate kids to experience school life. They are often the first ones to be educated in their entire family.
The cost of educating them is just INR 12500 for 6 months. INR 25000 will support them for an entire year. Educating a child holds the promise of them getting a job once they grow up. This will help them get their family out of the vicious cycle of poverty. Please fund my campaign as a simple act of kindness can have a profound impact on a child's life.

ABOUT THE NGO
Manam Malarattum is a Trust committed to the cause of cultural development and dedicated to the purpose of wide-ranging community services in and around Yelagiri and Javvadhu hilly regions of Tamilnadu. The trust had established a higher secondary school ‘Dayananda Vidyalaya’ with the support of Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswathi in Kurusilapattu and managed it with all the social ideals for the greater benefit of children in this area. The trust has addressed the educational needs of over 13000 students so far successfully.
The trust organizes ‘Sandhya Gurukulam’ classes for government school students in this area regularly, which made a significant positive difference to the communities in the region.
The trust has adopted over 350 children from rural and tribal communities and from families of very poor economic backgrounds in this area. Manam Malarattum firmly believes that every child has a right to education and quality education can liberate them from poverty and ignorance.
TAX BENEFITS
Funding for this campaign is eligible for tax breaks as Manam Malarattum is a registered NGO and you can avail of benefits under section 80G of the IT act. Foreign funding is not accepted.
FEEDBACK FORMAT THAT YOU GET
To ensure that there is complete transparency I shall get a report from the NGO (this takes between 2 to 3 months usually after the funds are raised and transferred to them) telling me who benefitted from the funding. The details will then be posted on the UPDATES section of my campaign. As soon as an update is posted, the platform will send an EMAIL alert to all the funders - i.e. to you. When do I get the receipts?
It takes 7-10 days after the campaign is closed for the monies to be transferred to the NGO. The receipts will start getting processed about 2-3 weeks AFTER that and will be sent to you directly.
