THE CONTEXT :
Udaar Foundation, an NGO based in Noida aims to provide free education to children from the slum areas in Noida. The parents of these children are rag pickers, auto drivers, maids etc. Classes are conducted from 2:30-5:30 pm. They conduct classes for 150 students who study in Grades 3 - 10. A situation is deliberately created to redirect the child's energy away from roaming the streets to a system of coming together, through counselling, fun learning, and other activities. Other vocational classes, sports training, and value education programs are conducted to ensure well-rounded growth for the child.
These children live in tiny houses with the bare minimum necessities. They have seen the fortunate children enjoy the festival of lights - Diwali but have not had a chance to enjoy the festival. So I decided to do something about this.
THE INITIATIVE :
Diwali is a fun festival for all of us. We look forward to celebrating this festival with our family and friends. This Diwali, I want to spread joy and hope to those who have not experienced Diwali the way I have been able to. Through this campaign, I aim to conduct a Diwali carnival for 80 students (Grades 5-8) who come to Udaar Foundation for their education.
This carnival has been planned to allow these underprivileged children to enjoy the delights of the Diwali festival. There will be a bunch of activities like a puppet show, an art and craft workshop on Diwali decor items, story-telling, candy floss, and much more. There will be food stalls, ice cream stands, with numerous options. The place will be well-decorated according to the theme.

ABOUT ME AND THIS CAMPAIGN
My name is Jiya Garg. I am a Grade 8 student at the Step By Step School, Noida.
My family, especially my parents have been deeply involved in various social activities. Under their influence, I am persuaded to contribute and take initiative in such events.
I believe that providing the young, rural youth with the worthy quality of their culture holds vital. It is important for them to experience this auspicious, holy, and strong spirit of the Diwali festival. I strongly believe, more than just helping the ones in need, it is important for them to also experience delight, joy, and fun, the way they deserve to. Due to the challenges present in their life, they are afraid and unable to pursue themselves forward.
The unique feature of this event is that it is led by the mind of a student. The way she thinks, and hopes her peers experience life. It is strongly conceptualized, planned, and organized from scratch. It executes with confidence and experience.
The funds will be of great benefit to the underprivileged children.
