THE BACKDROP
While education is a fundamental right, it remains a distant dream for many girls in the Thane and Palghar districts of Maharashtra. For families that live in extreme poverty, sending their daughters to school is an expensive affair. Attending government schools is also difficult as they have to pay for books, uniforms, and transportation. Parents who have not experienced the benefits that come along with education such as an increase in earnings and quality of life don't know what they are missing out on by pulling their daughters out of school. They prefer to send them for work or get them married. This is why it is a cycle. Children who grow up without education are less likely to send their children to school.
THE SOLUTION
My classmates and I from the Jamnabai Narsee School are committed to helping these underprivileged girls by supporting their education. They study at vernacular schools in Thane and Palghar and need our help to continue their education. This is being done in partnership with the NGO Learning Space Foundation. This initiative will support the Grade 9 and 10 education of 125 girls who have already been identified. The scholarship will help them build careers and get them out of the vicious cycle of poverty that has plagued their families for generations.

ABOUT ME AND THIS CAMPAIGN
My name is Kimaya Joshi. I am 17 years old and in Grade 12 at the Jamnabai Narsee School (JNS), Mumbai.
I have undertaken this campaign because I think it is very meaningful to impact the life of a young girl (who is probably my age) by supporting their education. Many families are unable to afford to send their daughters to school. They prefer to send them for work.
I was thrilled to learn about this initiative that provides education to underprivileged girls in Palghar and Thane districts. This will help them continue their education and achieve their dreams. Just INR 12000 will support their education for an entire year.
Empowering girls through education, especially those from economically backward families has a massive impact on the entire family for generations to come while also accelerating social equality. These girls grow up to be more confident and take on responsibilities that they would normally shy away from.
Please support my campaign as a simple act of kindness can have a profound impact on a girl's life.
Let us together lend a helping hand and transform their lives.

ABOUT LSF
The Learning Space Foundation, abbreviated as LSF, is a Palghar-based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) working on Education and Livelihood issues since 2006. Through the years, LSF has evolved to put into practice a holistic approach to providing education in different ways. Our focus is on reaching out to rural and Adivasi populations in the remote villages of Maharashtra who lack avenues to receive basic education and development. We not only sensitize the local communities about various issues concerning the holistic development of children and youth but also engage them in providing an enriching environment for the children.
OBJECTIVES
- To facilitate uniform and best class teaching methodologies in rural schools.
- To create an ecosystem of educational resources and establish partnerships to create a model of best practices that can be replicated by other nonprofit organizations across larger areas.
- To be a guiding light for the children and youth from rural marginalized communities and help them discover their true potential, and achieve occupational excellence and personal fulfillment by imbibing self-esteem.
- To create sustainable environments at schools, homes, and communities which are conducive to learning and growth for changer leaders to emerge.
FEEDBACK THAT YOU GET
To ensure that there is complete transparency, the team at Learning Space Foundation will post feedback about 2-3 months after the campaign gets over telling us which student benefitted from the funding. The details will then be posted on the UPDATES section of my campaign and will be in a format like the one below. Once the update is posted the platform will send an EMAIL alert to you. Click on the link and you can read about which child has benefitted. That's transparent right.
TAX BENEFITS
Funding to this campaign is eligible for tax breaks as Learning Space Foundation is a registered trust and you can avail of benefits under section 80G of the IT act. Foreign funding is not accepted.

How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept and is growing very quickly. It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an Idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations and ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes.
