ABOUT ME AND THIS CAMPAIGN:

Lucknow is popular for its chikankari work (hand embroidery). Learning about the art of Chikankari from my father while growing up, I was always intrigued that this type of hand embroidery was done only by women from the old town of Lucknow. Meeting and listening to the hardships of the humble and hardworking women, I wanted to explore their lives through the lens of my camera and capture a fraction of their reality, which included their passion, struggles, and their dreams.

Women artisans who perform this embroidery get a meagre income of approx INR 2500 per month. Their families do not have ration cards, stay in rented homes in slums and find meeting ends every month almost impossible.

The funds I hope to raise through this campaign will go toward the betterment of the livelihood of these women and their families. A Ration kit for the family is a game-changer and makes a BIG BIG difference to them. It allows them to continue to send their kids to school and provide quality meals for the family.

Funds from this campaign will be utilized to impact artisans and their families in Lucknow.
