I am doing this crowdfunding campaign to help raise funds for enlisting stem cell donors. This will help improve the probability and chances of saving & improving the lives of children who are suffering from blood disorders like Thalassemia and Leukaemia. All it takes is 1800 INR to get one donor. Help me raise 18000 INR and enlist 10 donors.
HELP ME RAISE INR 18000 AND ENLIST 10 DONORS
The money raised will be given directly after the campaign ends to DATRI. They will then use the funds to enlist more donors. This will in turn increase the number of kids whose lives can be saved. You will get an update on how these funds have been used and where and how the donors have been enlisted.
THE PROBLEM:
In India every year more than 10,000 children are born with thalassemia and as many as 1,32574 cases of blood cancer are expected to be registered by 2020. Every patient has a 25% chance of finding a match within the family. However, the rest of the patients do not find a suitable donor within the family. In such cases, there is a need to find an unrelated donor. But finding a match is no less than a miracle.
Chances of finding a match are 1 in 10000 typically. In some cases the chances are 1 in 100000.
It is at times like this that registries such as DATRI help the patients find a match. DATRI has a database of lakhs of donors in their database. If the kids type matches with anyone in the database they then can actually donate their stem cells and save a life. DATRI is an NGO based out of Chennai.
DATRI Blood Stem cell donors registry was set up with the idea of providing help to people suffering from life-threatening blood disorders like thalassemia, leukaemia, lymphoma, SCID etc. by providing them with an HLA matched adult unrelated blood stem cell donor.
DATRI meaning ‘donor’ in Sanskrit was set up in 2009 and in a short span of time, it has become India’s largest blood stem cell donors registry.
As of now DATRI has gifted 445 lives, conducted 3164 drives and has more than 373557 registered donors. Currently, DATRI has more than 2200 patients waiting for their life saviours.

ABOUT ME & THIS CAMPAIGN:
Hello, I am Veda Sai Kolla, a student at the SDA Bocconi business school. My hobbies include swimming, traveling, reading, playing cricket and badminton.
I have undertaken this campaign because I think being able to impact the life of a child by giving them a chance to live a happy and peaceful life is the least I can do. Technology and science have evolved enough so that stem cell research & medical science allows for lives to be saved. All we need to do is drive awareness and funding for this incredible initiative which allows for willing donors to save the lives of kids and youngsters suffering from blood disorders.
The fact that a contribution of just INR 1800 can make a difference and increase the probability of saving a life is what I found interesting. Am raising 18000 INR to fund the cost of acquiring 10 donors. Please do not stop funding this campaign even after my goal is reached as the more we raise the easier it is to find matching donors for kids with blood disorders.
About DATRI
The life-saving mission not only needs human donors but also longs for funds to create awareness about the curative means available to people suffering from fatal blood diseases like thalassemia & blood cancer. It costs DATRI, INR 1800 to add one donor to the registry which includes the cost of high-resolution HLA typing. This year DATRI intends to register 1,80,000 donors into the registry.

FAQs
Will we get to know details of the persons who benefitted?
Yes. After the money has been collected it will be transferred by Fueladream to DATRI. It will take from 30 to 90 days after that to get details of how the funds were used and how many donors were enrolled. Once I get this information from them I shall upload this on the UPDATES section of this campaign. You will then get an alert and can read details about the fund use.
What are the crowdfunding charges?
Fueladream charges 9% as crowdfunding charges to the NGO. There is a payment gateway fee of 3% (for both the Indian and foreign gateway) plus a GST component of 2.16%. This adds up to 14.16%. There is also an initial fee of 3000 INR which is being waived for us. It still requires only INR 1800 to enlist a donor and increase the chances of saving the life of a child.
When do I get the receipts?
It takes up to 2-3 weeks after the campaign is closed for the monies to be transferred to DATRI. The receipts will start getting processed about 4 to 6 weeks AFTER the campaign is closed and will be sent to you directly.
How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly.
It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an Idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such a pooling of funds. You can fund innovations & ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding. When you fund a charity it’s more like a donation & you get small innovative rewards like a shout-out on an FB page or a thank you email from the beneficiaries
