SHREYA IYER’S CAMPAIGN TO FUND HER TREK TO THE EVEREST BASE CAMP.

It has been a ritual to visit the mountains every year. It has always given me a sense of sanity and grounding. I have been aching to trek to the Everest Base Camp and in the process promote awareness against abuse in the communities I meet with. I've been subject to that horror myself and have a come a long way out of it. I believe I need to put myself out there and feel alive again. I look forward to getting your support to do this.
Also, this is an off season trek as it is in peak winter which makes the whole journey that much more demanding with temperatures dropping between 20-40 degrees as we go up. The need for really good winter gear is crucial as well.
From exploring the country on two wheels, to becoming the first female entrant into national rally racing, to joyfully humming as a playback singer, my experiences have been adventurous and humbling. Dabbling in the biophilic design space as a professional helped me turn my deep love for nature and sustainable living into live testimonies. Continual effort to exercise mindfulness and green practices in everyday life has also extended into curating a wellness enterprise that strives to keep the ethos alive while building thriving communities that put wellbeing in every sense, at the very center.
Besides this, you might wonder why base camp? It's more mental than physical. It's a personal journey - one that everyone can achieve if they're prepared, both mentally and physically. Base camp trek is tougher than most hikes in the world considering the ascend and the altitude. I plan to trek it to Kala Patthar which is higher than the base camp with an altitude of 5,644.5 m, while the mighty Mt. Everest sits at 8,849 m.
