THE CONTEXT :
In rural areas of Tamil Nadu, families are often involved in daily wage labour. Many children are forced to work and earn for the family. This often means that a child's right to education and good health disappear. These families live in poverty and find it difficult to provide their children with 3 meals a day. EDUCATION IS A LUXURY FOR THEM. A majority of these children have never gone to school and will be first-generation learners who will be the ones to break their families out of the vicious cycle of poverty.
The Isha Vidhya schools (there are 9 of them in Tamil Nadu and one in AP with a total of 10200 students ) provide high-quality education to these children. The cost of teaching them + uniforms + mid-day meals + transportation by bus + books is just INR 2750 per month. Fund INR 5500 and impact them for 2 months.

We were inspired to do this campaign when we learnt that our friend Ramesh Jayaraman had decided to travel 2500 km by cycle from Gurgaon to Coimbatore to support this cause. ABOUT RAMESH AND HIS 2500 KM JOURNEY TO SUPPORT RURAL CHILD EDUCATION :
54-year-old Ramesh Jayaraman is riding 2500 km from Gurgaon to Coimbatore as part of this initiative to help educate children from the rural areas of Tamil Nadu. His passion for cycling and helping society gave him this idea - why not go on a journey on A bike across the length of the nation? It would be no ordinary journey – during the ride, he would raise awareness and support for the education of underprivileged children. A cause close to his heart, his aim would be to raise INR 33L or more with our support.
Many of us are coming together to support his efforts through this crowdfunding campaign. Each of us is raising funds to help educate as many children as possible.
Supporting these children would certainly bring about a meaningful change in their lives as well as in the lives of their parents. Isha Education was founded in 2006 and runs 10 schools across Tamil Nadu. A total of 10200 students study at these schools out of which 5330 are scholarship students. These schools provide quality English education with extracurricular activities that boost the child's confidence. The community believes that an English education will give their children better opportunities and a ticket out of poverty.

We are SUNAYNA UBEROY AND SUMEDHA. We are supporting Ramesh's efforts to educate children in rural areas of Tamil Nadu.
We have undertaken this campaign because we think it is incredible to impact the life of a child who does not have access to education. Many of these parents are unaware of the importance of schooling in a child's life. They prefer to send their child to work and earn money for the family. The fact that ISHA VIDHYA Schools provide education, uniform, books, transport, etc. for free makes it impossible for parents to NOT send their children to school. This allows these not-so-fortunate kids to experience school life. They are often the first ones to be educated in their entire family.
The cost of educating them is just INR 33000 for an entire year. INR 16500 will support them for 6 months, INR 5500 for 2 months, etc. Educating a child holds the promise of them getting a job once they grow up. This will help them get their family out of the vicious cycle of poverty. Please fund our campaign as a simple act of kindness can have a profound impact on a child's life.

Isha Vidhya is committed to raising the level of education and literacy in rural India and helping disadvantaged children realize their full potential. The project seeks to ensure quality education for children in rural areas, opening the door for them to participate in and benefit from India’s economic growth.
Isha Vidhya rural schools have been started in villages (under the umbrella of Isha Education, established in 2005) to provide high-quality school education to underprivileged rural children who cannot otherwise access or afford it. Isha Vidhya’s English-medium schools open the door for rural children to prepare for higher studies and to join the workforce. The holistic, activity-based approach of Isha Vidhya’s educational system, nurtures children’s development beyond just academics, ensuring that students realize their full potential and learn in a joyful manner.

Yes. After the money has been collected it will be transferred by Fueladream to ISHA EDUCATION We will update you on the details of the beneficiaries as soon as possible. Once we get this information we shall upload a report on the UPDATES section of this campaign. You will then get an alert & can read details about the beneficiaries.
When do I get the receipts?
The receipts will start getting processed about 4 to 6 weeks AFTER the campaign is closed and will be sent to you directly.
