THE BACKGROUND :
Childhood blindness is a significant public health concern worldwide. India is home to 9.3 million visually impaired and 2,70,000 blind children. In India, blind children face numerous challenges when it comes to education. One of the primary barriers to education for visually impaired children is the lack of resources and accommodation.
These children are neglected and are sometimes abandoned. They do not get a chance to study and achieve their dreams. They may also face discrimination and stigma in society, making it harder for them to access education.
THE INITIATIVE :
The Captain Chandan Lal Special Middle School for the Blind is a residential school in Behrampur, Gurgaon, Haryana established on 1st August 1994. The school is run by the All India Confederation of the Blind.
This school helps 111 visually impaired boys and girls (as of March 2023) from preschool stage to Grade 8.
It costs just INR 6000 to support a child for a month.
(This includes education, stay, food, clothing, and more).

ABOUT ME :
My name is Shivam Parti. I am a 17-year-old, Grade 12 student, at Delhi Public School, Sector 45, Gurgaon.
In October 2022, my long-held passion for current affairs and love for learning led me to a seemingly unexpected place – teaching a current affairs class for the visually impaired at The Captain Chandan Lal Special Middle School for the Blind.
On my first day, there was a hint of nervousness in me as I stood in front of the students, teachers, and administrative staff, especially as I had no idea how they perceived information. To my surprise, the students were very receptive, and their level of awareness was truly exceptional, especially given their circumstances. They had the hunger to learn, the longing for knowledge, and the desire to overcome their adversities and succeed in life.
I came back home gratified and resolved to improve the existing infrastructure at the school to provide a more inclusive environment for the children.
During my several interactions over the next few months, my resolve grew stronger, and I decided to give back to the community, which has culminated in this campaign. Through this campaign, I intend to raise funds for the visually impaired children of the school to support their education, a place to stay, food, medicines, and other skills for an entire year. I would be happy if, through my efforts, I could transform their lives and help them have a better future.
Your contributions can make a difference in the life of these visually impaired children!
Please support my campaign. The more funds we raise the more impact we can make.

How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept and is growing very quickly.
It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations and ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding.
