THE BACKDROP:

The Pune-based NGO - RESQ is one of the very very few NGOs in India that works with so many different kinds  of animals and helps rescue, recover, rehabilitate, and release them. The team at RESQ has been tirelessly working towards helping thousands of animals that face major threats every day.

They rescue animals who are in danger because as humans we have invaded their habitat resulting in animal-human conflict, our lack of empathy, increased trading in illegal animal trafficking, etc.
They have rescued over 1 lakh animals since their inception in 2007.

Here is an example of their work.

THE CURRENT AND URGENT NEED:

Recently, the RESQ team found themselves dealing with the aftermath of a disturbing situation. The Forest Department unveiled serious mismanagement and dismal animal welfare standards at a local wildlife facility in Pune.

The Forest Department has decided to relocate all these 250 animals which include:-

  1. Leopards

  2. Hyenas

  3. Jackals

  4. Monkeys

  5. Chinkaras

  6. Vultures

  7. Eagles

  8. Owls

  9. Other birds like parakeets, painted storks, and hornbills.

These animals were found in a very distressing condition and the department will hand over these 250 animals to RESQ.

THE SOLUTION:

The RESQ Charitable Trust operates out of a one-of-its-kind rehabilitation care facility for animals at BAVDHAN in Pune. (Bavdhan is located approx 20 km from the Pune airport - this is a suburb in the west of Pune city).

With an expanded population to serve and no other facility currently ready to house them, the RESQ team is compelled to urgently:

1. Build additional enclosures to house these animals in Bavdhan, Pune.

2. Rehabilitate the animals.

3. Increase the team of dedicated rehabilitators.

4. Multiply the food and care supplies.

This will cost approximately INR 1 crore (which works out to INR 40,000 on average for 250 animals).

Me and my colleagues from SJ Contracts Pvt Ltd, Pune are coming together to help the Team at RESQ in their mission to save these 250 animals who need urgent rehabilitation and care. Fund this campaign generously so that we can together raise INR 1 CR.

SNAPSHOTS OF THE IMPACT MADE BY RESQ:

ABOUT ME:

My name is NILESH KAILAS SAKORE. I am a corporate executive at SJ Contracts Pvt Ltd, Pune.

This campaign of mine aims to help with the rescue and rehabilitation of animals that were discovered in a very poor state by the Forest Department at a sanctuary in Pune.

There are 250 animals there including leopards, hyenas, jackals, monkeys, chinkaras, vultures, eagles, owls, and several other types of birds like parakeets, painted storks, and hornbills who are being held in distressing conditions. These animals are in urgent need of rehabilitation and care. The forest department will hand over these 250 animals to RESQ.

With an expanded population to serve and no other facility currently ready to house them, the RESQ team is compelled to take care of their medical care, food and rehabilitation. There is also an urgent need to build additional enclosures to house these animals. There is a total requirement of INR 1 CRORE to complete all these tasks. For example enclosure for leopards, hyenas etc are very expensive. For example, it costs INR 15000 to care for a leopard for a month wrt its food and nutrition needs. The average cost works out to be INR 40000 per animal ( INR 1 crore for 250 animals).

The NGO is authorised by the Government of Maharashtra to conduct state-wide wildlife rescue in collaboration with the Maharashtra Forest Department.

Please support my campaign and let us together help save these animals and rehabilitate them.

ABOUT RESQ:

RESQ was founded in 2007 to provide emergency aid to animals in distress. Since then, the rescue and rehabilitation work of the organisation has provided aid to thousands of animals of over 200+ species, improved public health and safety outcomes, and actively worked on preventing human-animal conflict across multiple urban and rural ecosystems.

We have evolved and always adapted to the rapidly changing needs of the environment around us. In 2007, when there was no one in Pune city to provide aid to street animals, we did that. Today, there are many focused groups working in that field, several of whom we have assisted as they began their journeys. In 2014, when there was no one to rescue abandoned livestock, we did that. Today, we still do that and much more - we ensure they never go back on the streets. In 2017, when scores of wild animals began getting affected in Maharashtra due to rapid development and shifts in agriculture patterns, that's who we went on to help.

Powered by a 70+ member team who work on the front lines, driven by a passion for tackling every challenge they face with a smile, together they work towards the organization’s vision of conservation and coexistence between wildlife, communities, and their animals through their response and prevention verticals.

How does crowdfunding work?

Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept and is growing very quickly.

It’s a concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream.com is a crowdfunding platform in India that allows for such pooling of funds. You can fund innovations and ideas on FuelADream and be the first to get these products or make them come true. You can also do a good turn by funding charities and causes through crowdfunding.

Updates have been committed to after the campaign ends.
