My name is ABHINAV and I am a Grade 9 student at the Jamnabai Narsee International school at Vile Parle in Mumbai. I am doing this crowdfunding campaign to raise funds and save the life of ANKUSH MRIDHA a 15-month-old child. He is the nephew of my maid and that is how I got involved.

THE BACKGROUND:

Tanmay and his wife Lipika are farmers and have a very low combined monthly income of INR 4000. They both hail from a village in West Bengal. Their son Ankush Mridha was born on 8th August 2017 and has a 7-year-old brother.

ANKUSH MRIDHA has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Hepatoblastoma and needs a surgery immediately. The parents were devastated on hearing the news and the condition of their son is steadily deteriorating and surgery is the only solution for his recovery. Given their limited means, they are trying to find ways to fund the operation and save their son’s life.

Since September 2018, Ankush has been suffering from abdominal pain, loss of appetite, continuous vomiting and has been passing blood in his stools. Ankush’s uncle who lives in Mumbai suggested that the parents come to Mumbai for treatment.

They visited the Tata Memorial Hospital located at Parel in Mumbai. Here doctors did tests. He was diagnosed with rare cancer in his liver, known as Hepatoblastoma in Stage 2. Hepatoblastoma primarily affects children from infancy to 3 years of age and can spread to other areas of the body. The survival rate is more than 80% if a tumour is only in the liver and can be completely removed with surgery after chemotherapy.

On 16th Nov 2018, Ankush underwent his first Chemotherapy session and he needs to be operated by January 2019. The consulting Doctor is Dr VINIT SAMANT.

Your funding will give Ankush and his parents a fresh lease of life.

ABOUT ME

My name is Abhinav Garg and I am studying in 9th grade at Jamnabai Narsee in Mumbai. Ankush is my maid’s nephew. When I learnt about the problem I decided to do something about it. I also discovered that crowdfunding is a possible option to raise the funds and help save a life and bring joy to an entire family.

Surgery cost would be approximately INR 1,50,000 and INR 35,000 would be his medical charges as he recovers after the surgery. With other miscellaneous costs including crowdfunding charges, the total amount to be raised will be INR 2L.  I am requesting you all to help his family raise INR 2,00,000 to cover the expenses as they are unable to raise this huge amount by themselves with their poor financial background. Let’s all chip in and fund this campaign and give Ankush a fresh lease of life.

COST BREAK UP

As per the Hospital's estimate (given in the story above), the cost of the transplant will be around INR 1.5 L. Including medical charges, crowdfunding costs, payment gateway fees and GST the total goal amount that we will need to raise is INR 2L.

HOW FUNDS WILL BE USED

Funds raised will be used for covering the expenses at the hospital including surgery and medical charges. INR 1.5L would be paid directly to TATA MEMORIAL hospital and the remaining INR 30,000 would be spent on medicines post-surgery. Let’s all chip in and save Ankush and give him a fresh lease of life. The funds will be transferred to Ankush’s aunt's account. Her name is JABA BAULIYA and she works in Mumbai at my home.

I shall post an updated after the surgery is done giving you an update on how the funds collected are used and also update you on the progress and health of ANKUSH.
