Heart surgeries performed on children cost typically cost between 2.5L to 5L depending on the case and complexity. The Rotary Bangalore Indiranagar (RBI) in association with the Needy Heart Foundation have partnered with 2 of the top hospitals in Bangalore and are now able to impact & make these surgeries available at a much much lower cost of close to 1.2L INR. Of this they will contribute 40000 INR and the balance will be raised by the hospital through government subsidies and from grants from other people & from other NGO’s.

The money raised will be given to the folks at the Rotary Bangalore Indiranagar & they will pay the amounts to the two hospitals – Jayadeva Hospital & Fortis Bangalore. Once the money is given to the hospital they will use it to save the life of a poor child and share the details with me. I shall then send you an update about the child we have saved so that you know where your money has gone.

The Rotary along with the Needy Heart Foundation have made over 10,000 surgeries possible in the last 15 years. Rotary Club of Bangalore made over 250 surgeries possible for children in 2016. All these surgeries are almost (in some cases the parents pay small amounts) free of cost and help so many underprivileged families become whole again.
ABOUT US:
Our names are Abinaya, Roshni and Ayusha, we are 14-years-old studying in the 9th grade in Delhi Public School, Yelahanka Bangalore. We have signed up on FuelADream as a part of the DPS Big Hearts collective to raise funds to make sure that three underprivileged children receive free heart surgeries. The partnership with the Rotary means that the cost of the surgery is subsidized to INR 3.6L, we need to raise INR 120,000 in order to save three children's life. Net of the crowdfunding charges 35000 INR + will be given to the Rotary who will then transfer the same to one of the two hospitals. The balance amount will be collected/raised by Jayadeva & Fortis Hospitals through government subsidies and their own donor network that includes other NGO’s & individual funders.

HOW CAN YOU HELP? We are raising this money to cover the costs of their surgery & the smallest contribution you make will help save their lives. The funds from this campaign will be transferred to Rotary (since they are a registered NGO & you get tax benefits) & they will in-turn route it to the concerned hospitals. Once the campaign ends, regular updates will be posted to keep the funders abreast of which child received the surgery, the outcome of the surgery and the progress of the child’s condition.
TAX BENEFITS: Funding to this campaign is eligible for tax breaks as the Rotary is a registered NGO & you can avail of benefits under section 80G of the IT act. Foreign funding is not accepted. If you are an India living abroad or a person holding a Indian passport you can still fund this campaign.
ABOUT JAYADEVA HOSPITAL:
Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology Bangalore, is a tertiary care autonomous institute run by the Government of Karnataka.Located on Bannerghatta road in Bangalore, it is a 600-bed hospital with state of the art facilities. Presently, it serves close to a 1000 patients on a daily basis. The key person at this hospital is Dr C.N Manjunath (Director and Prof Cardiology) They have conducted over 3000 Open Heart Surgeries, 10500 Coronary Angiograms. 4000 other procedures including Angioplasties and Valvuloplasty have also been conducted in the hospital.
ABOUT FORTIS HOSPITAL:
Fortis is a chain of super specialty hospitals across India. They have multiple branches in Bangalore and we are dealing with the Bannerghata hospital which is a 276 bed hospital with extensive facilities. Dr. Xavier head of Pediatric cardiac surgery is the chief contact here. He is also a trustee of the Needy Heart Foundation.

FAQ’s:
Will we get to know details of the child who benefitted?
Yes. After the money has been collected it will be transferred by Fueladream to Rotary who will then give it to the hospital. It will take from 30 to 60 days after that to get details of who the beneficiary child was with details of her parents , her picture etc. Once we get this information from the team at Rotary & Needy Hearts ( as they collaborate on this) I shall upload this on the UPDATES section of this campaign. You will then get an alert & can read details about the beneficiary.
What are the crowdfunding charges?
Fueladream charges 2% for the payment for the payment gateway and 7% as crowdfunding charges. With service tax the total comes to 10.3%. There is also an initial fee of 3000 INR which is being waived for us. Of the 40000 INR a net amount of 35880 INR will be transferred to the Rotary Foundation.
When do I get the receipts?
It takes a week after the campaign is closed for the monies to be transferred. The receipts will start getting processed about 2 to 3 weeks AFTER the campaign is closed and will be sent to you directly .
How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly.
It’s s concept that allows a large number of funders (like you) to fund an Idea or a cause or event by giving small amounts of money online. Fueladream is a crowdfunding site and platform in India that allows for such a pooling of funds.
