Our names are Aryan Rawat and Aditya Vijay Patel. We are students and feel very strongly that how we take care of the strays in our city is a reflection of the character of our nation. The least we can do is feed them every day. All these animals need is food and they will take care of themselves. All these animals need is a square meal a day and it will keep them content, happy, fit, and disease-free.

We are thrilled that we are doing this campaign in partnership with the NGO - SOS (Save Our Strays) which is a Mumbai-based animal welfare charity that has successfully been in operations for the past 15 years. 

The NGO through partners and like-minded animal lovers funds the feeding of dogs and cats at 15 locations across Mumbai. Every day over 1000 dogs and cats are fed. Dogs are fed once a day and that is good enough for them BUT cats need to be fed twice a day. The cost of feeding these 1000 strays every day is about 1600 -1700 INR only. For a month the cost is approximately 50000 INR. 

Through this campaign, we plan to raise funds to feed 1000 plus dogs and cats every day for a 6-month period. Hence the goal of this campaign is to raise 3LINR. Funding for this campaign has 80G tax benefits. All funds go to SOS which is a registered NGO. They will issue 80G tax receipts about 4 weeks after the campaign ends.

These are stories of 2 of the people. We have 15 locations with people like this at each location. Each of them has been doing this for years without missing a day and ensuring that these strays are well fed and taken care off. Your funds will go to supplying them with medical and food supplies.

ABOUT US AND THE CAMPAIGN

We are friends and study at the Jamnabai Narsee International School at Vile Parle (W), Mumbai. We both feel very strongly about taking care of animals in general and want to ensure we do something for them. Once we discovered crowdfunding we realised this was the best way to create awareness and raise funds for what we believed in.

We have undertaken this campaign because we think feeding animals would be the kindest thing you could ever do without any expectation of getting something back. The fact that raising 50000 INR can support 1000 stray dogs/cats for one month is something that I am very excited about. Our initial goal is to raise INR 3L and support this program for 6 months. Please continue funding this program even if it goes past the 3L INR goal as we would ideally like to raise over 6L INR and fund this program for an entire year.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM-FOOD POOL

SOS started this program in July 2009 primarily to help dogs and cats who needed extra care and nutrition to recover from some life-threatening conditions that they were in. Isolated dogs suffer from deadly diseases, but with proper care and nutrition, they stand a good chance of survival. This program was brilliantly put together by our trustee, Amit Gajaria, at a local ABC Centre.

Initially, every volunteer was allotted one day of the week and that's how we started feeding about 20 animals on a daily basis. Then, there was no looking back, the word spread and donations started pouring in, from 20, we went to 30 and kept increasing. These animals are suffering from various ailments like maggot wounds, fractures, jaundice, skin infections, etc. This would never have been possible without the co-operation of the hospital authorities. The results were soon to follow, more and more dogs started recovering and going back to where they came from. The medication by the doctors there, followed by the nutritious food given by us helped the dogs recover faster.

Highlights of the Food Pool program:

• Providing packaged food to volunteers who feed animals in their area but cannot afford to do so.
• Focusing on areas with a large concentration of strays.
• Cats are fed twice a day while dogs are fed once.

ABOUT SOS

Save Our Strays is an Animal welfare-based NGO based out of Khar (W) in Mumbai. They have been in operations since 2003. They have continuously, consistently served the stray and ownerless animals of the city by conducting the following programs.

1) Animal Birth Control (Sterilisation program for stray dogs and cats).

2) Vaccination for cats and dogs.

3) Medical Treatment and Ambulance Services.

4) Adoptions and Awareness.

5) Food Pool.

TAX BENEFITS

Funding for this campaign is eligible for tax breaks as the NGO is a registered trust and you can avail of benefits under section 80G of the IT act. Foreign funding is accepted too.
