THE BACKGROUND:
Hi, I'm Sarangan, 24. I have studied at the Srishti Institute Of Art, Design, and Technology in Bengaluru. I’m a filmmaker with a passion for storytelling. I am also a musician and writer but most importantly, I tell stories. I have lived my entire life in Bengaluru. I went to three different schools and one day I hope to reach the heights of my career. Simply put, I want to be as big as Spielberg.
I wasted an entire year after my graduation looking for experience when experience had decided that I was not ready for it. So, after a year of hunting, I got tired and decided, quite literally on New Year’s it’s time to stop.
The film itself has always been something I have been planning since October 2023. But now I have ‘Righteous Determination’ and I am creating my own experience, just like the first filmmakers in the world.
Filmmaking is a beautiful adventure of chaos and confusion and a hellish landscape of arguments and ‘creative differences’. I love that environment, I’m ready for the adventure, and I thrive on conflict.
Now, I want to make my first truly independent film, a project where I'm responsible for every aspect from start to finish.

THE PROJECT:
Of course, with any good story, the layers run deep, like a complex mosaic of madness. Some of the other themes include Morality, Trust, Feminism and a lot of other things. I shared the screenplay with a few friends of mine and they all had different interpretations each time they read it. So much so that I can’t really explain in a few paragraphs; each has their own interpretation. That’s the power of a good story.
THE TIMELINE:
Pre-Production is currently underway, that is I am getting the cast and crew together. The script is complete. The shoot dates are set. It’s a 5-day shoot with 2 days extra for contingency. The dates are 23rd – 27th February. After which Post Production will begin and Once that is done the film will be released sometime in April.

HOW CAN YOU HELP:
The funds will be used to pay the Cast and Crew and keep them fed and happy. It will also be used to rent equipment like cameras, tripods and other video equipment, as well as sound equipment like boom mics, lapel mics, and a sound recorder.
Most of the money will be put into the production of the film and the rest will be put into post-production things like music and editing.

I’m Sarangan (AKA Sirungun on Instagram). I’m an independent filmmaker who studied at the Srishti Institute Of Art, Design and Technology. I got into filmmaking because it combines three of my best interests: writing, music, and watching movies. As both a filmmaker and a composer, I craft the music for my films with the collaboration of talented people.
I hate being in front of the camera because that is not where I belong. I just want to be known for telling great stories—stories that make people think. Stories that entertain. There is a Japanese concept called Ikigai, which is all about finding happiness through your true purpose in life. My ikigai is to entertain. I do it so the world can take a break from the mundanity of life. We all need a break every now and then.
