THE BACKGROUND:
We are Kantharaju and Nagalambika, parents of a newborn baby born prematurely on June 8th, 2024. Our newborn baby boy is preterm, born at 32 weeks and 3 days through C-section However, life has thrown a critical challenge in our family's way. As a premature baby with a very low birth weight, he is currently under the care of a dedicated medical team at Rainbow Children’s Hospital, Bengaluru.
The estimated cost for the next 4 weeks of NICU (NeoNatal ICU) stay and necessary treatment and medicines is between INR 15-18 L. (See the details in the attached document from the hospital).
INR 15L IS A HUGE AMOUNT FOR US.
We have already raised INR 5 lakh from our savings and with support from well-wishers for our baby's treatment. However, we still need to raise an additional INR 10 L to cover the remaining costs.

CURRENT MEDICAL CONDITION AND TREATMENT:
Our baby is receiving treatment for several conditions, including Respiratory Distress Syndrome, Intrauterine Growth Restriction (IUGR), late-onset sepsis, and feed intolerance. The medical team has provided medication to help with his breathing. Currently, he is using a special nasal tube that provides oxygen and receiving fluids through an IV. He is also receiving fortified breast milk through a tube.
Despite these treatments, our baby's infection levels are high, so he is being given strong antibiotics to fight the infection. He needs continuous monitoring, tests, and intensive care and will need to stay in the NICU for another 4 weeks. With proper care and treatment, our baby will have a speedy recovery and a healthy life.

Alongside caring for our baby, we are also proud parents to our five-year-old daughter, Belaku, who is studying at UKG. Kantharaju works in an NGO, while Nagalambika is dedicated to teaching at a private school. We are launching this campaign to ensure our son receives the necessary medical care he needs to thrive.
