THE CONTEXT:
While education is a fundamental right it remains a distant dream for many children in India. Families that live in poverty often see school as an impossible cost as they struggle to make ends meet. Even when students are bright and do well the cost of education progressively gets higher leading to dropouts because of financial constraints.
Many of these parents are uneducated and illiterate themselves and cannot see the long-term benefits of imparting education to their children. That is why they tend to compromise on school and focus on their children earning money to meet day-to-day financial needs by taking up menial jobs. This leads to a vicious cycle of poverty. The only way for them to get out of this is by sending their children to school, getting them to complete their Grades 11-12, and then move on to college and graduate.
But how do they do that with financial constraints?
THE SOLUTION:
The Vidya Daan scholarship initiative by the ROTARY BANGALORE INDIRANAGAR club is a perfect solution for children who are bright and come from financially stressed homes.
It funds the fees of a deserving child and is awarded to students from Grades 11 onwards until they complete their graduation from college - ie for approx 5 years. The parents of these students are farmers, maids, daily wage laborers, and auto drivers. After they graduate they are in a position to find jobs and build a career. This will help them get out of the vicious cycle of poverty that has plagued their families for generations.
ALL IT TAKES IS INR 2000 PER MONTH ON AVERAGE.
JUST INR 24000 WILL EDUCATE A BRIGHT STUDENT FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR.

ABOUT ME AND THIS CAMPAIGN:
My name is Shimona. I am 13 years old and in Grade 8 at DPS Bangalore North.
I have undertaken this campaign because the gift of education is something that is important to any student. The children that I would like to support and give a scholarship to are doing very well at school, despite adverse economic circumstances and conditions at home. Many of them have parents who are daily wage laborers, house help, and need our assistance. The fact that raising just INR 2000 can support a bright student for an entire month is something that I am very excited about.
I aim to raise as much as possible to help these students. For example, INR 2000 will support them for a month, INR 8000 will support them for 4 months and INR 24000 for an entire year, etc. The more we raise the bigger the impact.
Getting a good education will transform their lives and the lives of their families. Many of their parents cannot even read or write. Please support my campaign and let us together bring light into the lives of these fellow students.

ABOUT THE NGO PARTNER:
Rotary Bangalore Indiranagar is a 140-member club, with members from diverse communities and regions. It's engaged in various community service projects which include projects around health, infrastructure, water conservation, and education. It's a model Rotary Club and we are very proud of the partners we have and the impact we have made.

FEEDBACK THAT YOU GET:
To ensure that there is complete transparency, the team at ROTARY BANGALORE INDIRANAGAR will post feedback about 4-5 months after the campaign gets over telling us which student has received the scholarship. This takes some time as they need to screen candidates and allocate them to me. The details will then be posted in the UPDATES section of my campaign and will be in a format like the one below. As soon as I post an update the platform will send an EMAIL alert to you. Click on the link and you can read about which child has benefitted. That's transparent right?

Will we get to know the details of how the money was spent?
Yes. After the money has been collected it will be transferred by Fueladream to Rotary Bangalore Indiranagar. It will take from 4-5 months after that to get details of who the beneficiary was with details of them. Once I get this information from them I shall upload details of the beneficiaries in the UPDATES section of this campaign. You will then get an alert and can read details about the beneficiaries.
When do I get the receipts?
The receipts will start getting processed about 4 to 6 weeks AFTER the campaign is closed and will be sent to you directly.
