In Bengaluru city migrant labor settlements, 4 lakh migrant children lack essential care and education. Most are children of Bengali-speaking migrants, living in tin-and-tarpaulin sheds. Their parents, working as ragpickers and housekeepers, often have no choice but to bring them to work or leave them unattended.
This leaves70% of children aged 1.5 to 6 without proper supervision, exposing them to various risks.

ABOUT THE NGO:
Diya Ghar provides Early Childhood Care and Education for children of migrant laborers. Diya Ghar started in 2016 with five children. We currently serve 1,000+ children every day in 20 Centres. We provide a safe space for 2-6-year-old children where they are given nutritious food, taught English, Math, and Kannada, and have their child care and medical care needs taken care of.
ABOUT ME:
My name is Vedant Ravindra Gowda. I am a 15-year-old Grade 9 student at the DPS, Bangalore North. I am doing this campaign to provide education and care to the children of migrant workers in Bengaluru.
It pains me to see so many preschoolers in Thubarahalli settlement lacking the essential support they need to thrive. These children of migrants live in precarious conditions, often left unattended while their parents work as ragpickers or housekeepers or at construction sites. This reality leaves a staggering 70% of them without proper supervision, exposing them to various risks.
That's why I've taken it upon myself to support the Diya Ghar initiative. They are a sanctuary/caregiving centre where these vulnerable children can receive the care and education they deserve. The cost to impact a child for a month is ONLY INR 4250 and this includes their education, nutritious food (they get two meals everyday), transportation, etc. (Imagine they are picked up and dropped back to their homes).

Funding for this campaign is eligible for tax breaks as the NGO, Diya Ghar is a registered trust and you can avail of benefits under section 80G of the IT Act. Foreign funding is NOT accepted.
FEEDBACK THAT YOU GET:
To ensure that there is complete transparency, I shall get a report from the NGO (this takes between 1 to 3 months, usually after the funds are raised and transferred to them) telling me who benefitted from the funding. The details will then be posted in the UPDATES section of my campaign. As soon as I post an update, the platform will send an EMAIL alert to all the funders - i.e. to you.
