How is Wagr different from a microchip?
With a microchip, the chances of finding a lost dog are quite low. But with Wagr you can reach your dog instantly.
If a dog with a microchip gets lost, the dog can only be found if he or she is taken to a vet who has an RFID reader. Having an RFID reader itself is a rare thing. The information on the microchip has to be tracked back to you/the owner and it can take weeks or months. Basically, you need to depend on other people to make sure your dog is found again.
But with Wagr you can reach your dog anytime on your own. The Wagr tracker uses GPS and has a pre-installed SIM card. This gives you highly accurate data on where exactly your dog is at all times. You can see it on your map just like an Ola or Uber.
As long as the Wagr tracker has charge and is in a location with network coverage in India, you can see your dog’s location even if you are on the other side of the world.
Is the Wagr tracker waterproof?
We’ve designed the Wagr tracker to be both waterproof as well as dust-proof. In fact, it can stay submerged in one-meter-deep water for about 30 minutes and still work. The only thing you need to ensure is that the tracker should be completely dry before you put it for charging.
How is Wagr different from a generic GPS tracker?
With most of the generic GPS trackers you find on Amazon and Alibaba, the biggest pain point is that the GPS data is rarely accurate and generates a lot of false alarms. They also don’t come with the activity tracking feature. Their battery life is also quite low and usually doesn’t even last a day. The Wagr tracker has a battery life of two days and it can go well beyond that as well, depending on usage.
Wagr has been developed in close association with Qualcomm, whose Snapdragon chip is used in about 90% of mobile phones in India. This itself gives Wagr world class reliability. We are also one of the winners of the Qualcomm Design in India challenge last year, a competition focusing on innovations in the hardware and smart devices space.
We have a deep focus on providing a world class user experience. The Wagr tracker also gets continuous over-the-air software updates, just like a Tesla car. In short, your app as well as tracker are constantly updated and improves over time.
Lastly, we are the first dog tracker designed and based in India. Meaning we’re here to provide immediate support if you face any issues.
How big is the Wagr tracker?
The Wagr tracker is 6.4 cm long and 3.7 cm wide. It is 1.3 cm in thickness. It’s small enough to fit within the palm of your hand and has a compact, seamless design so your dog won’t feel a thing. It weighs around 27 grams, which is about as heavy as four ten rupee coins.
Wagr comes with an accessory which you can use to attach the tracker to your dog’s collar. It’s designed with military grade velcro and can face a lot of wear and tear.
If the tracker has GPS, why do we need a SIM card?
Wagr uses both GPS and GSM/SIM card to provide location data of your dog. Our patent pending algorithm/technology combines both two signals to ensure high-level accuracy.
How this works is, first the GPS sensors inside the tracker use satellite data to get information on latitude and longitude of the Wagr tracker. Then, the GSM/SIM card transmits that data to your phone. The GSM ensures that you can track your dog wherever there is cellular coverage in India.
Why are we paying for SIM subscription?
GSM on Wagr is powered by Vodafone and Idea and it’s like how you pay month-on-month for your phone services. We’ve partnered with Vodafone and Idea to provide you the cheapest rates. This is much less than the cost of purchasing and maintaining a SIM card yourself.
Is it safe to have the device so close to the dog for so long?
The Wagr tracker is certified safe according to international standards. We’ve been certified by the Wireless Planning Commission of India. This certificate is only issued after meeting stringent European test standards for safe wireless usage.
Unless and until your dog is outdoors or outside a Safe Zone, Wagr uses GSM transmissions once every hour to sync your dog’s location. So in total, your dog is exposed to GSM transmission/radiation for a total of 5-10 minutes in a span of 24 hours. At all other times, the Wagr tracker is in Airplane mode. Zero transmissions. This is way lesser than the continuous data transmissions from mobile phones and other appliances in the house.
How can Wagr help with my dog’s health?
Apart from location tracking, Wagr does a lot more. It tracks your dog’s activity and tells you how much rest and exercise your dog gets everyday. You can set daily activity goals and also see exactly what type of activity your dog has been up to. Whether he or she was resting, or walking around, or playing!
With future updates, Wagr will tell you how much your dog has been scratching or licking, which should help you identify diseases like tick fever, skin issues or even depression. We are also working with vets to understand how they can use this data to diagnose diseases at an early stage.
What is Wagr's warranty policy?
