SCHOOL KIT - AN INITIATIVE BY YOUTH FOR SEVA
School Kit Drive - An initiative by Youth for Seva to ensure that every child attends school with dignity. The objective is to encourage every child to take the first step towards school by providing them with basic necessities like school bag, notebook, pen, dictionary, water bottle, and label sheet. Each kit costs about INR 450 and beneficiaries are underprivileged kids from Delhi and NCR.
40% of India’s population is below 18 years (children), Less than half of the children go to school. And only 1/3 reach to Grade 8, Children dropping out of schools are a common sight. Children drop out of schools owing to limited financial means, lack of access to school materials & parents’ indifference towards education
In an attempt to combat this challenge, YFS initiated the School Kit Sponsorship, a program designed to ensure that basic school supplies reach even the remotest parts of a few states across India. With contributions from donors, we enable children to attend school.
IMPACT IN 2018
Last year around 48200+ children benefitted by this program. School authorities have noted an increase in student enrolment and we hope to maintain that momentum. This year we are planning to reach 60,000+ Kits.
The School Kit consists of a school bag, notebooks and stationery materials like geometry box, pen, pencil, eraser sharpener, and ruler. We are trying to raise funds for 5500 school kits to be distributed among underprivileged children of Delhi-NCR this year.

ABOUT YOUTH FOR SEVA
Youth for Seva (YFS) started in April 2007 as a platform to provide opportunities for youth who wanted to take an active part in community development despite time constraints. Through this platform, YFS aims to empower youth to become positive change makers who will enable organizations and institutions to work without a vested interest. The goal of YFS is to support schools, NGOs, government hospitals and other organizations in the social sector through volunteers- https://www.youthforseva.org/.
HOW WILL THE MONEY BE USED?
The monies collected will be given to us by Fueladream after the campaign ends. As we are an NGO, any donation will be eligible for an 80G tax receipt. The money would be utilized to purchase and provide the underprivileged kids with the school kits.
Every donation counts, let’s all do this not for us, but for them. For those students who need it and for our nation which we wish to see flourish because they are the future of India.
TAX BENEFITS
All funding for this campaign has tax benefits. Receipts will be issued by Youth For Seva which is a registered NGO. Indian citizens can avail of 80G tax benefits. Foreign funding is accepted too.
FEEDBACK THAT YOU GET
To ensure that there is complete transparency we shall post a report (this takes between 2 to 4 months usually after the funds are raised & transferred) with the beneficiaries. The details will then be posted on the UPDATES section of this campaign. As soon as we post an update, the platform will send an SMS and EMAIL alert to all the funders - i.e. to you. Click on the link on the email and you can read about who benefitted. That's transparent right.

The above list is indicative, there may be some more schools we add depending on how much we finally raise. We ideally want to raise INR 25L or more and maximize the number of students who can benefit from this initiative.

When do I get the receipts?
It takes up to 2-3 weeks after the campaign is closed for the monies to be transferred to Youth For Seva. The receipts will start getting processed about 6 weeks AFTER the campaign is closed and will be sent to you directly.
How does crowdfunding work?
Crowdfunding in India is a relatively new concept & is growing very quickly.
