Hi, My name is VARUN MANISH KARLEKAR and I am in Grade 12 at NATIONAL PUBLIC SCHOOL, HSR in Bangalore INDIA.
I recently read about the founder of Aravind Eye Hospital, Dr. Govindappa Venkataswamy, who was instrumental in developing a high volume, low-cost service model that helped restore sight to millions of needy people in India. Despite suffering from rheumatoid arthritis at age 30, he trained to become an ophthalmologist after retirement and dedicated his life to eliminating blindness.
It moved me that over 11 Million people in India are impacted by cataract which can be easily treated. But access to quality eye care and cost is a deterrent. On researching further, I came to know about Fueladream.com who encourage crowdfunding programs that help raise funds for people in urgent need of cataract surgeries to restore their eyesight. And a mere Rs.1000 can help make a difference! It not just restores vision for them, but also improves the quality of life for the needy people.
I strongly believe that together we can help the people that are in urgent need and thus make a difference to their lives. Please support my campaign which will help bring light into the lives of people. I would like to raise as much as I can and help more people gain vision!
