My name is Neha Panchamiya. I am a concerned citizen. This campaign of mine aims to help with the rescue and rehabilitation of animals that were discovered in a very poor state by the Forest Department at a sanctuary in Pune.
There are 250 animals there including leopards, hyenas, jackals, monkeys, chinkaras, vultures, eagles, owls, and several other types of birds like parakeets, painted storks, and hornbills who are being held in distressing conditions. These animals are in urgent need of rehabilitation and care. The forest department will hand over these 250 animals to RESQ.
With an expanded population to serve and no other facility currently ready to house them, the RESQ team is compelled to take care of their medical care, food, and rehabilitation. There is also an urgent need to build additional enclosures to house these animals. There is a total requirement of INR 1 Crore to complete all these tasks. For example, enclosures for leopards, hyenas, etc are very expensive. For example, it costs INR 15000 to care for a leopard for a month wrt its food and nutrition needs. The average cost works out to be INR 40000 per animal ( INR 1 crore for 250 animals).
The NGO is authorised by the Government of Maharashtra to conduct state-wide wildlife rescue in collaboration with the Maharashtra Forest Department.
Please support my campaign and let us together help save these animals and rehabilitate them.
