About:
My name is Divya and I am currently studying in 11 th Grade in The
International School Bangalore (TISB).
My friends and I started this initiative last year, after we got together
and realized that lot of teenagers like us had personal struggles with
mental health issues, which they were not able to openly discuss. We
wanted to help by providing an open platform to people to freely
express themselves and the things they were going through. We created
a website to provide this platform for everyone. We also organized our
first event in December 2018, where people who attended read their
poems, showcased their art, and talked about their journey. We noticed
that this platform really helped people to embrace every part of
themselves and their personality.
We want to continue this initiative this year as well, with our event
which is now taking place on the 21st of December. This year, along with
a general discussion of the submissions we receive and talks from
professionals, we are also organizing an art therapy session. During this
session, everyone is free to draw or paint whatever they want to or
whatever is on their mind. We hope this experience will reduce the
stigma that surrounds mental health and be therapeutic to all those who
attend.
Together, we would like to raise funds for organizing our event,
sustaining our website and also helping the students of Sambhav
Foundation. With your assistance, we hope to provide support to the
people around us and leave a positive impact on our community.
