About:
My name is Vriti Hemanshu Shah. I am 14 years old, studying in class 8 at Vidyashilp Academy. Very recently at school, we were introduced to WFUNA (World Federation of United Nations Association) and their MISSION POSSIBLE programme.
At the very first, i felt that this was something that all of us, as students should get into. The programme provided us with a platform to go beyond our day to day routine and contribute to a needy social cause.
I was put into a group of likeminded batch mates and that’s when it all started.
Background: India is a country where unfortunately majority of people still live below the poverty line. People find it difficult to make ends meet. With such diminishing situation existent, parents find it very difficult to provide quality education in a comfortable environment, to their children.
Selected Project: Amongst the many options contemplated towards this programme by the team, there was one school that we had recently visited. It was both, close to our school and close to our heart. This school was run by the government. Though the government was trying its best to provide basic necessity, it lacked in certain areas which the team intended to fulfill.
Purpose: During our visit at this School called Gnana Jyothi Vidya Mandira, our team observed that it lacked few basic necessities which were important to fulfil the purpose mentioned within the brackets hereunder:-
1. Good quality drinking water. (Students to stay healthy).
2. Support the teachers in areas that they lack. (Quality education).
3. Table and chairs. (Comfort and focus on the teaching).
4. Vermicompost Pit (To maintain cleanliness).
5. Music Room with various instruments. (Brain development & a fun thing).
6. Sport Room with quality equipments. (Kids enjoy & champions are born).
7. Set of books, both new and old. (Education beyond schooling).
Objective: The team came out with an approximate budget of 3,75,000/- to fulfill their above/immediate needs. Once fulfilled, we were sure that the 119 students studying in the school would stay healthy, obtain quality education in a comfortable environment which is clean and fun to come each day to.
This left us with the next challenging task of each one of us in the team had to collect Rupees 75000/-.
The team that i am in consist of students that like taking up challenges just like me. Our job is to make the impossible possible. My team is gearing up to do our best in accumulating the required funds. This task is the very first for us and we pray for support from all our near and dear ones.
God has been kind with us; it’s now our duty to give back to the society.
