About:
My name is Sahit and I am 14 years old. I am in class 10 of the CIE IGCSE curriculum of Chirec international School.
The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically affected us around the world in various ways. Many of us are struggling but not as much as the poor and the ones facing poverty. There have even been major incidents of racism, like the tragic event of George Flyod, and recessions in economies have aroused in many countries.
Although there are lockdowns and curfews for most countries, the poor are scared of starvation and most are getting ill from working for such minimal wage. And as they get ill, they won’t be able pay for the procedures and health care necessities needed. For example, to check if a person has the corona virus in Indian government hospitals ask for 4,500 INR and Apollo Hospitals Charge about 1 lakh INR to get quarantined by Apollo per day. Due to this, problem of safety of people from the virus and the safety of doctors, prices of check ups and surgeries have risen by a large scale. This is a huge problem for the people facing poverty and is poor financially.
We the privileged feel that it’s our duty to step up and help them through these dexterous times. It is grim to know that some of the people around you find it very difficult to survive in this pandemic. That’s why it is important to support such campaigns like the Fuel a Dream campaign with Akshaya Patra. I have supported them before by raising 25,000 INR in just one community in 8th class with my friend and I would support them again, too. They provide everyone with bottled water and meals for the underprivileged across Hyderabad (through their kitchens) in close coordination with the local administration. Lets boost these campaigns and help the ones’ in need as they are of our own country.
