About:
My name is Amrutha Potluri. I am 15 years old and a Grade 10 student at Chirec International School.
The past few months have been a difficult time for everyone but mostly for the poor who have a difficult time trying to provide themselves and their family with at least one meal per day. According to the GHI, more than 19 crore Indians were undernourished as of 2019 and over 56 lakh Indian children (0-4 years), are in the “severe wasting” category according to the UNICEF March 2020 report which means that these children have extremely low weight-to-height ratio.
Akshaya Patra, an NGO whose aim is to eradicate hunger in India, provides simple yet filling meals that cost just Rs. 25 per meal to make and are distributed for free for the financially poor. However, it requires donations in order to keep running and providing meals. I would like to help Akshaya Patra as much as I can to achieve their goal of feeding 5 million children by 2025.
