About:
My name is Sheila Krishnan and I am at an interesting turning point in my life: at 62 years, after a full and active home and work life, and being an eternal student continuing my studies while working, I have embarked on an adventure of discovery of the self as a student of vedanta, while continuing to mentor startup entrepreneurs.
My work took me across several countries where i lived and worked and studied the people and their life styles. I realised that what was true for me, was true for them as well: education was the one factor which helped people not just improve, but transform lives. I have transcended many limitations imposed by society through education received at the hallowed portals of Stella Maris college, chennai, and XLRI Jamshedpur. I also realize how India is uniquely favourably positioned to pioneer once again, innovation in education, as part of my corporate journey in the filed of Education.
Besides the conviction that Education is the mantra that changes lives, I also learnt one more thing: living life jet setting as we do, with no time to stop and smell the roses, the only way to stay grounded and give back to the universe , is to do what good we can do, where we are, and when we can, instead of waiting for the one big day when we can change the world. so I urge you to do the same now: give here and now, right away, whatever you can.
I have undertaken this campaign because I believe that the right education is the foundation for life’s journey. I was fascinated by the 3 pronged approach of this campaign and the impact it will make. This is truly about REIMAGINING EDUCATION.
1)The uniqueness of the Chinmaya University (CVV) – a global university that will transform the lives of future generations of students. This will change the future.
2) In the immediate present being able to impact the lives of underprivileged students from Chinmaya Vidyalayas across India by supporting their education is a very high-impact initiative. The parents of these students are typically daily wage workers and many of them are illiterate and do not realise how critical education is.
3) Again in the present the Chinmaya schools need better infrastructure. The lack of it definitely impacts the quality of education and the school environment & this is a critical need.
Brick by brick, let us come together and make sure that this ‘One Knowledge – One World’ initiative is realised within our lifetimes.
