About:
My name is Aanya. I am 14 years old and study in the 9th grade at Chirec International School.
I have undertaken this campaign because I think it is very meaningful to impact the life of a young girl (who is probably my age) by supporting their education. I'm extremely fortunate to have access to good quality education, pursue extracurriculars and eat healthy food. However, a lot of girls are not as fortunate as I am.
Many families have lost their source of income during the pandemic and are unable to afford to send their daughters to school OR have them working (which has forced them to drop-out). These girls are possibly the same age as I am and it's extremely disheartening to learn that they don't get the same opportunities that I do.
I was thrilled to learn that the UDBHAV School in Hyderabad is an English medium school that focuses on the girl child. It provides high quality education with modern facilities including science and computer labs and is supported by the IIM Ahmedabad Alumni Association. The cost of funding these girls' education included tuition fee, uniforms, books/stationery and part funds their daily mid-day meal too.
Empowering girls through education, especially those from economically backward families has a massive impact on their entire family for generations to come while also accelerating social equality. These girls grow up to be more confident and take on responsibilities that they would normally shy away from. They are more likely to participate in the formal labor market and earn higher incomes.
I am also a volunteer at a student led organization and have experienced how it feels to come together and create an impact. Please support my campaign as a simple act of kindness can have a profound impact on a girl's life & for her family. Let us together lend a helping hand and transform their lives.
