About:
My name is Jahanvi Nayyar. I am 13 years old and in Grade IX C at the Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh.
I have undertaken this campaign because I think it is important to impact the life of a child who is probably my age and goes to a government school in Chandigarh. They are often from low-income homes. They have very little exposure at home or at school to health and the concept of health education.
The Health Education Centre is a unique and innovative 8800 square feet centre that the Rotary club of Chandigarh is creating for these children. It will have world-class facilities with exhibits, mannequins, models sourced from around the world along with classrooms. Students from govt schools can visit this and this will be an eye-opener for these students for sure. It will teach them about health, the human body and get them to become healthier and also will drive huge interest in the sciences.
The teachers and staff at the centre will be well-qualified and will be trained by the team at the McMillen Health Centre in the USA which already has such a centre running in the USA. This is a very innovative centre that exposes children to concepts about the human body and health.
The total cost to set it up is approx INR 2 CR or slightly more. Over a 10-year period it is forecast to impact approx 5L children. (The number estimated is about 70K to 1L per year. However, there will be children who visit more than once over a 10-year period). That works out to an amount of INR 40 per child. So if you fund INR 4000 you potentially impact 100 children. Similarly, INR 10000 impacts 250 children over a 10-year ago.
Please fund my campaign as a simple act of kindness on your part can have a profound impact on the lives of lakhs of students from govt schools in and around Chandigarh.
