About:
My name is Ayesha Johar. I am 16 years-old and I study in Grade 12 at Sishya, Adyar, Chennai.
The kidney is a critical and vital organ. When both kidneys fail or stop functioning properly it is fatal. The only treatment for those with kidney failure is either dialysis for life or a kidney transplant.
Dialysis is one of the first technological innovations in medicine - and the only treatment that does not involve transplant, and yet allows patients with kidney failure to live healthy, and productive lives. Dialysis removes the waste products that accumulate in the blood because the failed kidneys are unable to excrete them.
Unfortunately, there are thousands of people in and around Chennai who do not have access to dialysis as it is extremely expensive for them.
My campaign is geared towards helping these people. The cost of a single dialysis session is INR 2500-3000 in most private hospitals. The Bharathan Foundation has partnered with other institutions and is able to provide these dialysis sessions for just INR 500.
Each patient needs three sessions per week.
For example, if you fund INR 5000, you will help support 10 dialysis sessions. Fund INR 20000 and support 40 dialysis sessions.
Please help fund my campaign to support a worthy cause and you can have a profound impact on the lives of many patients suffering from kidney failure and change their lives for the better.
